Way to step up :D Sorry to hear about the hard times you had, but I'm glad things are on the up and up. It takes a lot o' guts to admit wrong when you make a mistake...good job :D

Ring gauge seems to have very little meaning. Newbs such as myself initially look at another members RG as an indication of the quality of advice they offer and integrity in exchanges. After watching the forums for a while it becomes apperant, however, that rg is awarded more for shared political beliefs and gifts than tangible contributions to the community.

Oh I don't know, the majority of my RG is due to positive feedback I have gotten from BOTLs related to my posts and threads. As you can tell, I have no credits for trades etc.

My apologies. I didn't mean to imply those were the only ways in which one could gain rg, just that some award rg based on such things and, in my opinion, it cheapens the system.
 
RG for the most part shows an individual's activities and interaction with other members on the forum, the more active the gorilla the higher the rg goes. My rg in no way pertains to my cigar knowledge, if so I'd have about 12. Now if it went by the sheer number of cigars I've smoked in the last three plus years, well then I'm a world class ass in that regard. Any type of reward system is flawed, never seen one yet that wasn't a popularity contest. They don't exist.

As for political or religious beliefs, well ya know if folks could just keep that to themselves on a "CIGAR FORUM" and take that highly volatile pair of subjects to the type of forums they belong in then maybe, just maybe that wouldn't even be an issue. I give out rg for several different reasons, the criteria changes just like the flavors in a great cigar. And like my opinion on politics and religion nunya.

I've been here awhile and have friends that are both very young and older than me(amazing I know), each relationship is different but I make damn sure I give each individual the same respect that they deserve no matter what their political or religious affiliation might be. Conservative, liberal, Race, Creed, Gay, Straight or any mixture in between makes no difference to me. If you treat me with respect, then you'll recieve the same in return. Sounds easy because it is.

CS to me is this shared passion of cigars and things that go well with them and "FELLOWSHIP". I'm done. :sb

Now there's a novel idea. Ring gauge and bananas... sort of like the Club Stogie version of Gold Bond Stamps. They could be redeemed at the Club Stogie store for merchandise. I suspect a modest two slice toaster might cost quite a few accolades though.:) :D
