MY FIRST ANEJO "Not a review"

Tour De Cigar

No longer a community member.
Well I just finish off one the most hype cigar, the AF Anejo Reserva No.48

Why didnt the AF camp just call this cigar a Mad. OpusX??
Well IMO on this cigar, I didnt get A whole lot of flav. like was describe about this cigar, this cigar is also consider to be full, but it didnt seem full to me maybe it was around for awhile at the B&M.. it was only in my humidor for about 4 days.. The price doesnt match the hype meanning over price.. Im not knocking this cigar I just dont understand why these cigars are going for so much and it didnt stand out (subjective). I must say it did have a unique smell :tu and the burn was even and the roll was great which gave me a nice long ash..
Another cigar I have question about are the AF hem.way and the Don Carlos, both are cameroon wraps. same fillers all from DOM. but the only supposly differents are the aging in the cigar filler (I guess they are not aged real far apart because I cant taste a difference in these two cigars)

ALL ABOVE IS IMO AND SUBJECTIVE.. What are your thoughts on these cigars..:hn

I was given 2 Anejo Reserva No.48's by a member of another forum, and having only smoked one of them I can say that I am not that impressed so far. I thought it was good smoke with nice flavours but not something that would make my "must-buy" list. I will smoke the other one in a few months to see if there is any improvement.

I've had No.50 so far... I agree with the unique smell. I enjoyed it as well. They say they need to rest awhile. Will see the second time around. Looking forward to it!!!!

same here, but at the time of purchase I bought two in which I normaly do, but here is my thing on letting the other one sit.. from the first one it seems it had aged enough because the lack of flav and to me not so full.. which is ok I dont like over powerfull cigar.. Ill probably would have aged it close to this point to let falir down a little but a lot flav. is gone..

The Don Carlos,Hemingway,Anejo,Opus,Chataue,Fuente are all different fillers. The Anejo I have read on Mokis site is a blend of Opus,Don Carlos and Hemingway. At retail I find them to be a great smoke.

yes I kno.. the don and hemm. have different fills.. I wasnt comparing them to the anejo or the opus...

my first experience with the Anejo, an 55 was about the same as yours. I didn't get it. The cigar did not have much of anything. I waited about 6 months and smoked another one that I had gotten at the same time. The second was much better!

Give it another shot.

The review on the first one I smoked is in the first post, the review on the 2nd is Post 21 in the following thread.

It's a nice smoke, just run thru the hype machine a little bit. Is it worth the 25-40 bucks a stick on C-bid? Only if you're on crack. But for MSRP or a bit over it's a nice one...NICE, not Unbelivable.

From my experiences, the only anejo that wasn't just as you described have been the sharks. All of them I've tried as just as flat as can be- but the shark is a flat out flavor bomb.

If you can find them... don't hesitate to get them. They are flavor bombs.
Think Dark Chocolate and cherry's.

I have had 2 of the belicoso's smoked on fresh and the other 2 years later.
I found none of the flavors described by most. I won't be purchasing any more.

I found the same thing. I had a robusto the other night. I liked it OK, but was not blown away by it. Maybe I built it up too much in my mind. I have a Shark with about 2 years on it that I am going to have this weekend, so I will see what I think after that.

As we learned from the Moki taste test, its all subjective for everyone. :2

The going price on these (not the MSRP) is set by the fact that they are a limited release. That makes them a highly sought after commodity. They really come out after at least a year. I think they are good if you can find them around MSRP and put them away for at least 6 months. The inflated prices that are generally found for them are only worth it if the buyer thinks they are.

Ive had 2 now. A shark and a 55, I thought they smelled great pre-light.
To me they had a flavor/smell as I smoked them, almost a hint of flavor, I cant pin it down with my chili and Miller lite vocabulary but I liked it alot. Kinda sweet floral i guess. I enjoyed the time I got to spend slowly burning these guys. Both times I burnt my fingers getting all I could from the nub.

Being a newbie I cant say I know whats right and true. But for me this is a damn tasty stick.:2

I love the term "Chili and Miller Lite" :tu

I can never taste the hint of dark cherry with a kiss of sunshine that I see in some reviews. I'm still new so I just know if I like it or not...but if you want me to describe it in details I'll be lost. (not trying to knock the folks that review cigars using those terms but just always found it funny sometimes when someone gets too into it).

:tpd: Yeah, I was gifted an Anejo Shark 77 at a Herf. It was a nice smoke with a lot of creamy spiceyness, however no way am I paying these ridiculous NC prices when I can buy some great CC's at a fraction of the price. For NC's I'm sticking to the Tat's and Pepin's

Why didnt the AF camp just call this cigar a Mad. OpusX??

Because it isn't. A maduro Opus X is quite something else.

I had the pleasure of owning a half a box of the OR #55 - that was a superb cigar.

Of the current crop of Añejo, the #77 (Shark) is, to me at least, the best. I will dang near prostitute myself for these. :ss
