My first attempt at growing.....

I wouldn't mind trying my hand at a little tobacco farming. I'd grow tobacco for cigarettes, though...I'd be a liar if I said I could roll my own cigars. I appreciate the mastery of the growers and rollers, so I'll let them handle it. ;)

It's perfectly legal in my state to grow tobacco, check state laws though. Thanks for all the complements, the jalepenos actualy turn red when ready to pick. And DAMN they have to be the hottest jalepenos I've ever eaten, so hot they hurt my mouth. I dunno whats up with the tomatoes though they haven't started to ripen but oh well, we'll see. Next year will be even better as I'll be more prepaired.

Well, it's been a while. I've been really busy latley and forgot to update my thread. I had some ant problems so I decided to invest in some pesticide and it worked great. No bugs anywhere near my babys. The one that is farthest in the back has taken the lead over all of them and is getting quite large, and has started to develope the little ruffles next to the stem as seen on the larger plants. I'm very excited that they all lived. So here are a couple of pics for you all.

Yea I think I may have to relocate in the comming month(s) damn, oh well, shouldn't be too much of a hassle I hope lol. Well, stay tuned for next weeks update.

Ok, so this is amazing. They are growing so fast, but it's amazing at what I've accomplished in so little of a time. I'm excited to see if I can get a decent yield this year but if I don't oh well I had fun so here is a new update.

Here's a little size compairason for you... I don't know how well it'll work but here goes.

Yep you are doing it!! Soon will come the picking, curing & drying. You my friend have raised up the plant from a seed making you a BOTL for sure!!:ss

Thanks a lot Richard, it means a lot. I'm so happy I actualy managed to get them this large! haha, I'm expecting in the next week or so they'll be even bigger, so more updates soon!!

- Tyler

Wow those are getting really big. Sounds like a fun project. Is there a recommended distance to keep between the plants? I figure if they get too large they might get in each other's way, true or not?

I think mine are too close together so I may have to transplant them sometime but we'll see when the time comes.

At this stage of the game transplanting would be kind of chancy. Might I suggest you harvest enough leaves to redude the crowding. You could also do something drastic and clip a few plants at the base. I say clip instead of pull as the pulling would probably include the roots of some of the plants you want to keep. Your choice, I think you have enough gardening experience to handle it. Over all the yield will be about the same for the space you have provided.

Alright, I'll give it a bit and see how things go and if absolutly necessary I'll clip out a few and harvest a few leaves. All things said, this was my first attempt so it's all basicly a learning experience, next year will be even better :ss Thank you very much for your insight Richard :)

Well here we go 5 days later and already a huge change, leaves are starting to develope at a much faster pace and random little ones keep popping up all over the plant lol.... I don't know if that's normal or what but oh well. I'm contemplating cutting the 3rd row down so that my biggest plant has room to grow and get nice and big. So we'll see in the comming weeks if it just decides to take over. Here's a couple of pics for you.

Here is a pic of 2 plants on there own, they are much too close, so I'm going to be cutting down the smallest of them.

Here's a quick update for this week. Not a whole lot has changed, the plants are noticably larger, at least in person I'm not sure about in pics but anyway. Here they are.
