My First "Big" Buy

I know its nothing compared to what a lot of you do, but this was my first big buy, as in i've never spent more than $30 at a time on stogies. this is from the duty free on my trip home from london, i spent more than i wanted, but its worth it (i only got discounted ones). so, here are the pics

thought i got good prices considering they were in pounds, but this is my first full box of cubans i've bought, so ill probably take 5 out then let the rest age for a while, maybe even letting about 5 age for many years, who knows if i can handle the temptation. i have a nice wine cooler that i can let em sit in thats away from everything else

im afraid im seeing the slope get steep, i wish someone had told me to buy a huge humidor before i got a tiny 25ct. oh well, i guess thats my next purchase. any tips for keeping them humidified inside the boxes? can i toss some beads or something in there? i dont have room now for them in my humi

I've seen many a suggestion on the "tupperdor". It would probably get you by till you can get a bigger humi or even the famed "coolador". By the way, nice haul you got there.

Do you have any tupperware or a cooler you could stash them in with some beads? The boxes aren't going to hold humidity very well.

Nice pickups though. I always enjoy the montes.

im working on getting some beads, but i spent everything i have then more on the damn stogies. i wasnt gonna buy the toranos, but the guy before me was buying them, and they had a hard time ringing them up so he used a different barcode that ended up being half the price, so i couldnt turn it down

Maybe look here to see if a local retailer carries any boveda humidity packs:

They're only a couple of bucks and would work in tupperware.

Nice haul. Gotta love that warning label!:r

I agree with tupperware or a cooler. You need to get a good way to store those puppies. Get some tupperware or a cooler and get some beads. It's a lot cheaper option than losing those fine smokes.

It would be very difficult to keep any sort of steady humidity in those boxes.

Coolers are great and fairly cheap too. Get some good beads and you are good to go. Just don't forget to check the temp every once in a while (which is what I failed to do when I got mine).

Good luck and it looks like you got a good deal out of it.

Nice buy! The cooler is a nice cheap storage that is an eye sore.... but it definately works!

If those boxes are just sitting out, I'd get them in freezer bags and put them in the freezer while you get a cooler to long term storage. 2-3 days then thaw in the fridge for a day. Order a 50 qt. cooler and a pound or two of beads. You'll be good to go.

where are the people that always told me no box pics?

perry,
that was a misconception from 2 hot issues at the time.
1) MoTheMan made the sticky post about "discretion" in the habanos forum.
2) pds made a sticky post about how to lose access to the habanos forum and making sure ppl didn't post photos of delivery methods.

ppl started to read into it that no photos were allowed. had i witnessed someone telling you that, i would have corrected them.

this post has both non-cuban and cuban cigars, so does it go in the non or the cuban section? it should go here (general discussion), as it's a mix.

AHEM!!!! I believe I as well as others did tell you this when you first showed up in the CDT, but who would listen me... You were one of the non believers. "Oh, I don't need a big humi, I only plan on keeping a few sticks!" Ha! :hn
