Need some help

I was in the Bahamas in Dec. 2005 and got a few of these Montecristos. I have been trying to figure out what these were.

I found the cigar...but there's not much to tell...its a Monti Edicion Limitada

robust 50 x 4 7/8 size?

That EL band (without the year) is from the Late 2000 Monte Robusto. JPH is correct. It is 4 7/8 x 50. If it was on a cigar longer than 6", it was most likely fake.
 
That band looks off, too. Look at the "i"s in "Limitada." There's no dots. Hard to tell from pics, but the typeface doesn't feel right to me either.

I had the same "doesn't feel right" feeling but it's always difficult to objectively analyze by photographs. IF it is a real EL band then it must be from the Monte Robusto 2000 - the only time the year was not on the bands.

I'm holding one now from a confirmed and indisputably reputable source. Mine doesn't have the pronounced gold dots at the top of the band either. It's a dot pattern, but forms almost a solid line unless very closely scrutinized.

I wholeheartedly agree. Very suspicious.

Still curious about the place of purchase.

Yep.

EL band in and of itself not enough to say for certain. I'm sure there are inconsistencies. And who knows what may have been going on with the early design of the band. I haven't seen enough of them to know.
