Need suggestions

Found out today that my wife and I will be having a baby. I'd like to pick up a couple sticks to hold onto for that special 18th birthday. Can anyone suggest a stick that should age well over the next two decades?

If I were to pick up a box of smokes, which ones are dated?

I'll be the first to admitt I don't know much about this hobby yet, but if you're saving it that long I would say you'd be better off with a CC rather than NC

Congrats!! :bl

18 years worth of aging huh? I couldn't keep ANYTHING that long. I'd just wait until the 18th birthday and smoke a really, really nice one with him/her and enjoy the time together.

I kind of agree with TripleF. And the above post about setting aside a CC instead, if you really wanted to go that route. Might suggest a couple padron 1926 series, or the 64s. But I'm not sure how they'd be with that kind of age on them.

If I was you (ps I am not) I would pick up the Edmond Dante 109 (Mexico Release for 07 and re release in 08).

1. The year is correct for birth year

2. Seems to be a great cigar with solid age potential - special now in 18 year it will be unfreakin believable.

PS Congrats on the new edition - only the best for all of you.

Congratulations! Try to pick up a box of ISOM's, and have one each year on his/her birthday. By the time said child is 18, you will have enough left to enjoy with your [son] and will have enjoyed your investment over his or her whole life.

congrats i just found out myself that i will be a dad. I was thinking of brewing a mead and opening a bottle every year on its birthday.

I did exactly what you want to do. I have 3 sons, 14-20. My oldest son turns 20 on 8/23 and I still have one of the cigars I gave out at his birth. The other two are stored with his.

I can't make a recommendation for you, but I can tell you that you will treasure the cigars. I know now that I will never smoke them. I'll bet you $100 that 18 years from now you won't either. In another thread someone asked about our most treasured cigars and my reply was the Padrons my wife gave me, but I had forgotten about my kids cigars. They are more treasured but I don't see them as cigars to smoke.

BTW Congrats!! I wish you the best.

My 2nd son was born about 3 weeks ago.
I bought a box of Partagas Lusitanias that I am going to smoke one on his b-day every year.

If your a casual cigar smoker this might be a tough one. I do not think you could go wrong with the Padron 26th ann.
