need to season cigar caddy?

I'm thinking of picking up a 5 capacity cigar caddy for my upcoming trip to the Keys. Is there a need to season these, since there's no wood?

Should come with its own humidifier. Just fill it up with distilleded water and you're good to go.

I bought a 5 capacity caddy but soon found I needed a larger one. I then purchased a 15 count. Wishin' I had a bigger one now!
Something to consider. :)

This is a trend we all have suffered from.

This is great advice, buy bigger than you think you need because it will be too small soon, I guarantee it.

5 counts are good for a night out. If you're going on a trip, you should get a 15 or 30 count.
Have fun in the Keys!

What about the X-treme cases? Are they just as good as a Cigar Caddy. They seem a little less expensive.

The X-tremes are very roomy. You can take out the foam tray if you want to hold even more cigars. The 18 ct. X-treme seems much bigger than the 15 ct. Caddy that I have, and very well made. I believe there's even a spot for a "Puck" with beads...now "that's livin'! :)

Plastic does not need seasoning.

I like the 10ct for day trips. I also have the 32ct for those big herf wekends.

i'm with everyone else who says no need to season. in fact, if you're only gonna be gone a couple days, i'd say you probably don't even need to charge the credo. the cigar caddy is supposedly airtight, which means no moisture is coming in or out (except when you open it, of course).

assuming you're not planning to open or close it all that often, your cigars should maintain their moisture fairly well without a credo. my local B&M even told me that if i charged the credo for a short trip, i probably had a better chance of ruining my cigars cuz the excess moisture from the credo has no where else to go in an airtight environment except into the cigars themselves...which could be bad, depending on just how much moisture we're talking about.

well, that was a novel.

I have a 5 count and the first time I used it I charged the small credo, let it sit to absorb the excess and then placed it and the sticks in the case.
Next day I was very disappointed when I opened it and all the cigars were mushy.
Now I just use it without charging the credo.

ah, proof of concept~ thanks for posting your experience, madurolover. makes you wonder why they put that little credo there at all....

:tpd:
I fully charged my 5ct. for a roadtrip when I first used it and that was way to much, smokes were almost damp:mad:
Now, I just add a few drops..if that.

I just received a brand new 10ct x-treme caddy today and noticed that the foam inside has that new foam smell. Has this ever been an issue for anyone as far effecting the taste of cigars that are kept inside?

That's what I used to do, but then all my sticks would end up feeling like a soaked sponge so I remove that humidification device and I just threw the sticks in without it, I figured that since the caddy is air tight, whatever moisture that's already in the cigar will stay there since it wont be stucked up by anything else.

Good stuff!
