New Gorilla goes fishing

All right, guys,

After the intro I received at the CT Herf, I prepared for a fishing trip back home (Ohio).

This was my first fly-fishing trip ever- and my first legitimate cast in 25 years. The friend who accompanied me asked if I was bringing any cigars to keep the mosquitos along to keep the mosquitos away. Hmm...

So I contacted my bro (GhostRider) to see what smoke he recommended. Despite a valiant effort at obtaining his suggested brand {ahem}, I purchased a box of his first legal recommendation.

(for comic relief- I had to light up using a gas grill. despite being a newbie, I did manage to take the plastic wrap off *before* lighting up. Tanner would be proud of me.)

I am shown here with my first catch- listening to Van Halen and enjoying a...

Those of you who know GhostRider- let's see if you can guess which brand I went with...

(Stig- if you don't get this right off the bat I'll be disappointed!)

My friend said it would keep the mosquitos away. I figured I wouldn't get too many chances to smoke a cigar since I'm new to this whole thing.

Besides, the cigar smell kills the fish smell. :)
 
Nice job! I'm an avid trout fisherman and bring at least 4 sticks with me when I fish. The hardest thing to do is smoke, breath and reel while your heart is pounding as you haul in an 18 inch 'bow!:ss

Fishing and cigars, great combo. Unfortunately I have found the cigars do nothing to keep the mosquito's away.
 
I live on a Blueribbon stretch of the Missouri river. I've dropped more sticks in the drink while fighting a fish or tying on a fly, or my favorite...burnt a leader once with my stick while tying on a new fly.

I've learned You have to go to SHORT sticks!! The only safe way to do it.

With the recent discovery of the CFO blends a stick in the drink isn't going to be the big deal it was in the past.

It was cool- I was listening to Joe Satriani as I reeled in my first catch on my second cig.
 
Doesn't get much better than a cigar smoking, fishing, Van Halen fan!!
