Newb's Very 1st CS Herf: Tears and Cheers (rant)

Wow! A wonderful gorilla lending a shoulder to lean on and a friendly ear to listen. That is so heartwarming. ;) ;)
Well, maybe I was just seeing how far of a drive it is - see if I can make a stop over and give him a hug and a pat on the back... console him in this time of great loss.:D:ss

^^^^Honestly. Thanks so much for everyone lending an ear AND a shoulder to cry on. It's very encouraging. It was such a terrible day. CS has come through to take the sting out of my bad experience....

My wife and I made a trip to Canada last year. Going into Canada, the agents were professional and cordial. Coming home was a different story. We had nothing to declare... just hand the passports to the agent. When asked about declarations I said we have nothing to declare and the the agent actually THREW the passports at my face. I was completely PO'd but before I had a chance to make an issue out of it, my wife put her hand on my leg and I knew that I had just better drive off. The thing is, these people act like A**H**** and if you call them on it, they can make your life a nightmare. Something really should be done because seizing your sticks was completely out of bounds. You shouldn't have to prove they weren't Cuban, the agents should have to prove that they ARE Cuban.

The only sure way to cure the "confiscate and smoke" syndrome is a bunch of Cremosa Cubana runs from Canada to the US.

They probably wouldn't realize what happened until they lit them up at a family barbecue a couple of weeks later.

;-)

Customs coming back from Mexico is nearly as bad. Although I've never been to Canada, they sound like d*cks... :BS

i am not sure where u guys got the confiscate and smoke idea. unless they have humidors at the border crossings or a warehouse the cigars will be no good. they have to hold them for like 90 days or something in case you want to dispute the seizure. well that is the deal at the land crossings anyways. i think you all think that everyone loves the leaf as much as us here but that isnt the case....as you can see by the smoking laws that are coming out.

bottom line is this stuff happens....and will continue to happen, so if you dont want to lose a particular cigar....smoke it in your home country.

this U.S. Customs issue is garbage. i dont understand why we taxpayers are supposed to waste our money so that the government can confiscate cigars... CIGARS! we could be doing much better with that money. not to mention that these U.S. Customs workers are very uneducated about cigars, if they do not know fully what the job consists of and they dont meet the requirements of their position, then they should not be working at that job, i know of too many people who should not be working where they are. and i thought that it was legal for for non-U.S. citizens to bring cubans into the country because thats how James Suckling brings Cubans in America (they have videos on the Cigar Aficionado site).

just recently suckling had his cuban cigars confiscated while trying to come into the US from canada.
it's the luck of the draw i guess....

well i guess you can do what Kramer did on Seinfeld... bring Cuban cigar rollers to the states (just make sure that they are cubans and not dominicans) :r

I'm sorry about your situation at the customs. I rarely hear anything good from them. I'm not suprised to hear that another BOTL came through for you though. I think we're a great bunch of folks, if I do say so myself. :ss

Just got off the phone with rocket...Ron....we have a 2 man herf planned for tomorrow, I'll fix him up the CS way!:D:D
