Nose-Friendly Smokes??

I realize that any responses will be subjective, but I'll go ahead and ask anyway:

Any thoughts on cigars (not flavored) that have an aroma that's most agreeable to those who don't smoke 'em?

I ask simply because I find it curious that the only smoke my wife doesn't mind (so far) is the Helix -- a relatively mild & cheap stick.

My girlfriend has never liked the smell of non-Cuban cigars. When I lit up my first Cuban (RASS), she not only didn't mind it but liked it.

I would go with the Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur Series. They smell great on the nose with a very mild but aromatic smoke. It is the one that I have always got the best comments on from non cigar smokers.

my wife dosnt mind indoor smoking or the smell, which is cool. but it wasnt untill last night when i was smking a Perdomo La Tradicion Maduro when she and a friend both had to comment on the sweet smell it was putting off.

not my favorite maduro by far but it did smell great

My wife is the same. As soon as I light up, she can tell me whether the cigar is Cuban. As far as NCs go, I think she finds maduros to be generally less offensive. Maybe she'll chime in here in a while.

Cuban Cohiba, why beacuse i have only tried a Cohiba cigarillo and that was amazing. (no really its true) cant imagine what a full size is like.

Hmmm... this sounds like a worthy experiment. Perhaps I'll try this week and put my wife's nose to the test. :D

I haven't really kept track, but she has commented, from time to time, about how offensive or unoffensive certain smokes are to her sense of smell.

It doesn't matter any longer really cause I am banished to the garage or the back yard.

I do recall this much........if I liked it & found it to be full of character, she usually found it to be particularly offensive.

Interesting...

On New Year's Eve, I smoked a Cohiba Siglo VI while sitting next to my fiance at a restaurant's bar before dinner. She commented on how this was the first cigar I've ever smoked around her that didn't make her want to move away.

It's not that she "liked" the smoke, but it's smell didn't send her out of the room.

That's progress at least. Not to mention another very good excuse to order a box.

I've found this to be the case as well. The sticks that are I find very flavorful and robust seem to bother her more than others.

:tpd:

my wife, and i've read many other ppls wives, say the same thing. they get to the point where they can tell if it's a cuban cigar by the smell.

It is funny but my wife has never smelled a cuban until New Years day when I lit up a PSP2. She commented on how different it smelled vs anything else I have ever smoked around her. (NC)

She actually loved the smell of it :)

There are a few NC she didn't mind but I don't really remember what they were.

My girlfriend does not mind the smell of lighter smokes, but anytime I light up something with a little color (maduro) she gets sick.

Only been chased out of the house with two smokes.
Partagas Black Label, and a Chateau Fuente maduro.
Everything else has always been fine.

As I expected, responses seem to be subjective, though appreciated nonetheless! In the absence of Cubans, it seems that something maduro may be less objectionable.

When with friends who don't partake (for cards or a drink), they never object to me stoking one up... But I often wonder whether I could have chosen a more pleasantly aromatic stick.

Pipes also work well in situations such as those. I've yet to have anyone object to me smoking a pipe or dislike the aroma.

In my own experience, I'd say the most amazing aroma I've ever experienced from a cigar came from a big Davidoff, probably a Double R. It was absolutely the most wonderful cigar smoke I've come across. I'd never bought a Davidoff before that, but the scent prompted me to buy some. Now, if only their taste was as wonderful as that aroma...

The most comments I've had about my cigars have come from one ISOM: RyJ Churchills. Now, if only my wife would be one to enjoy that smell.
