Nub me Tender

Sam Leccia

Young Chimp
Hello Guys,

I am sorry for not being an active member of this community. I appreciate the fact that some of you wish i played a larger role here. I hope to in the near future.

I really cannot appologize enough for how my initial impatient actions have affected your thoughts on the Nub brand and myself specifically. I can't begin to tell you how much I regret it.

It is very hard to read some of these posts, which makes it even more difficult to respond to them. The last thing I wanted to do was make matters worse so I chose to not respond. I care VERY much about what you all think of the Nub brand and myself. I don't expect everyone to love the cigar or for everyone to jump on the Nub wagon. I simply wanted to offer a different take on the norm. One of my goals is to bring some excitment into this awesome industry. With all of the taxes, laws, and bans, we all can benifit with some positive exposure. Additionally if Nub can get people excited and even introduce new smokers to enjoy this hobby that we all love, then we all win.

I understand that i have to take the good with the bad, I just would like another shot with you guys. A clean slate if you will. What got me into this mess in the first place was my excitement to respond to some of the initial posts about Nub before it was launched. I couldn't wait to dive in and mix it up with you guys. My intentions were nothing but good. And for what it's worth, I never left or requested that my account here be removed.

As far as using this community to simply push a product, that is untrue. Sure these boards provide a unique tool to communicate with the end user but they are also a great way to build life-long relationships with people that you've never met, and may never meet. I have been a forum member long before i was in the industry. I love what they offer. i have been known to deliver some of the craziest bombs on other boards. Sending out cigars/gifts to the unexpected is sheer bliss, but I don't have to explain that to you guys. The generousity of boards like this one is what truly makes them great.

One of my other goals is to be completely approachable and accessible. I do not know of too many industries that enable the end user to communicate so easily and frequently as this one. I want to try and even take that to the next level, by offering board members (of various contests) to get a chance to work Nub events at Big Smoke type shows. I have always found this industry and those events to be fascinating, and I would like to share that experience with you by letting you be part of it.

Please realize that I am just like you guys. I love cigars, love chatting on these boards, love sending out bombs, love attending herfs, love finally meeting a board member that you have only talked to online, and most importantly love spending time with friends and family and enjoying life. This is truly my Passion, my life. This business feeds my 3 children and God willing can put them through college. I am fortunate that my love and passion for tobacco and this industry, got me intrigued enough to do some garage experiments and thus land me an opportunity of a lifetime.

If you guys want me to be part of this awesome community, just say the word, as I would LOVE be a part of it, so that I may begin sharing my experiences with all of you.

Wishing EVERYONE here, nothing but the very best,

Sam Leccia

Thanks Sam.

I for one, am looking forward to trying a Nub. I'll be going to the launch party in my area

Thanks for the post Sam. I was a bit ambivalent on trying NUBs but I think I will have to take the plunge on them soon.

Hey Sam,

I say continue to do your thing. What has happened in the past is just that... the past. Contribute to the board and you'll receive feedback as desired. Sure, not everyone likes the same cigars, so 100% satisfaction will never occur. ;) Have fun with it, stay active, & see what happens. I think you'll see that CS is a great place to be & I for one am thankful manufacturers like yourself are willing to be a part of it.

Sam - I REALLY like the Connecticut 3.7 X 58 Nub. I was actually impressed with the burn..and the construction of the Cigar.

If I had to point out a negative thing..The draw was tight on a few of them...just very slightly though. But I had a few in where the draw was near perfect for me. Hit or miss.

I like the Cigar a lot..and that is all that matters. I will definitely be buying some boxes to keep in my rotation.

Sam,

While I appreciate your above post and respect the fact that you want to give ClubStogie a shot and be a contributing member, I can't help but be honest by saying that your initial reaction to the boards rules did rub me the wrong way.

Still, never being one to completely write something off I tried a couple of Nub Cigars so as to evaluate for myself their flavor, complexity and overall enjoyment factor. I must say that I did not care for the two I tried. They were harsh and one dimensional and not pleasant to my palatte. Obviously this is only my opinion of the Nub based on a small sampling of them however it will be a bit before I decide to give the Nub another go as my smoking experiences are fairly precious to me given the amount of time I have to enjoy them.

I want to applaud you for having the fortitude to give CS another shot after your initial dis-interest and hope that you will stick around to become a valuable contributing member of CS.

Best regards,
Dustin

Hey Dustin,

Thanks for your comments.

As far as the rules are concerned, I didn't have a problem with them. I really didn't. After my 24hrs was up I still had trouble posting, and I had written some long winded posts that didn't go through. So I replyed to my welcome letter with an even longer winded email just explaining that my account wasn't active yet, and that didn't go through because it is an auto generated email that is not respondible. I never lost interest in this site, a lot of things were just taken out of context...that's the biggest problem with emails, it leaves too much up for interpretation...

But seriously...ALL is forgotten...I am hoping we can move on and have some fun.

All the Best,

Sam

P.S. Truth be told, the long post above I had to type 3 times because i kept losing wireless connection and it removed my post each time!..I think that I have the CS jinx!!!

I'm sorry you're having problems posting Sam, that is truly unfortunate and I understand can be frustrating.

Just wanted to let you know though that I myself have seen the initial correspondence so I do know what was said (as far as losing interest goes).

But as you said, all that is in the past and I applaud your return to CS. Wasn't trying to bash the Nub just sharing my own personal experience with you in order to give you a little consumer feedback. Clean slate policy definitely exists on CS and I'm happy to welcome you back to the greatest Cigar Forum currently in existence :D

Yo Sam, you know I'm on board brother. Glad to have you here.. I'm waiting patiently for my Nubs to show up in the mail.

I actually think it is a great thing to have the higher ups here on this site! I have yet to try your nub, but I have heard mostly good things about it and I am excited about getting a few when funds allow.

I think your story is a great one as well, coming from sales to rolling in your garage to having Oliva roll your very own brand! Very exciting to see this happening in the cigar industry.

I wish you the best,
James

No Vsmitty in this nub fest?

Al

I don't want no nub in my mouth. Now that Sam is back, I have a series of questions for him:

1. Have you ever worked for Thompsons?
2. How did you discover the best three inches of cigar leaf?
3. How do you determine the best three inches of cigar leaf?
4. Can you post a picture of the cigar leaf with the exact sweet spot identified?
5. What happens to the parts of the leaf that aren't used? Is the scrap used for Series Vs and such?
6. If I cut the first 1/4 off my government made smokes, will they smoke better?
7. How exactly does nub change everything?

As I have posted before, the Nub is not a new idea for a cigar, just a concept twisted to pique people's interest. Other brands have already been making similar size cigars. I like your questions, they have value in questioning the Nub concept.

I detassled corn for Larry Thompson back in 1978
2. How did you discover the best three inches of cigar leaf?
I go bye bye in the car until I find the best three inches of the cigar leaf.
3. How do you determine the best three inches of cigar leaf?
I am magic.
4. Can you post a picture of the cigar leaf with the exact sweet spot identified?
I would but the cigar leaf's agent will not release the pictures without money up front.
5. What happens to the parts of the leaf that aren't used? Is the scrap used for Series Vs and such?
I stuff my bra with it.
6. If I cut the first 1/4 off my government made smokes, will they smoke better?
Yes, except North Korean government smokes.
7. How exactly does nub change everything?
Hard work and a passion for fishnet stockings.

Not Sam but MCS
