Observations on Phillies, Swishers, & White Owl

It seems as if these are the smokes that noone smokes around here, myself included. But I tend to watch the racks at the local convenience stores here and boy do they sell like crazy!! The store right by my place goes through a barrel full of White Owl a week!

Anyone else notice this?

That's like Reats that seem to be at every gas bar... My dad used to smoke them.
Never tried Phillies, Swishers or White Owl... don't know that I want to(?)

I saw a watermelon flavored phillie today.... it was tempting.

My guess is Phillies probably out sell most cigars we discuss here.

I rarely see them smoked in thier original state. When i see these particular cigars smoked, it's with green stuff in them :w. Plus they usually only cost $1

A lot of folks buy them for the re-roll value. We'll just call it recreational smoking.:r Not all do this, but a good many. Some may actually like the flavor. Who knows. I've smoked em both ways before. I dabbled with the greenie when I was younger, and must say they tasted better with your own recipe than they did the way you bought them.:tu

I use to enjoy smoking black and milds, but haven't had one in a few years. I worked at a CVS when I was in school and the most popular machine made cigars of those persons who bought them for tobacco use were the black and milds and backwoods. Phillies probably sold more than all others combined, but they are rarely used for tobacco consumption.

I know a number of people that smoke Swisher Sweets on a daily basis. I'm not a big fan, but each to their own I guess.

Well, I've smoked the cognac phillies, but that's about it. As cigars. They actually aren't that horrible if you're out getting drunk on crap like PBR :ss

What's weird is that they're actually selling the wrappers by themselves now, for around the price of the cigar itself. Its just paper....but they seem to sell better than the cigars now.

Couple times now I've offered up sticks at a party and am told, "No thanks, I have my own" after which the guy pulls a pack of Backwoods out of his pocket. Around here, they seem to be the stick of choice.
Still haven't tried one myself.

I used to smoke them before I knew about really fine cigars, now I don't
care for them, and I never like the taste of cardboard and fake sugar sweetened kool-Aid, on my lips
:r

But I smoke some good flavored cigars, but only if there handmade.

Hey now! PBR actually won Best American Pilsner at the big beer festival.

Although I usually stick to Dogfishhead and Avery. :al
Heh. There's a bar round these parts that sells PBR in a paper sack for .75 cents - along with PB&J sandwiches. I skip the sandwiches. :r

Machine made cigars like swishers and whatnot make up 99% of cigars sold. Some are appropriated for other uses but lots of people just smoke them. I was golfing this summer with a buddies dad who smoke 6-8 of them per 18 and passed on the premium hand rolled I offered. Like it was said earlier. Each to his own. I don't mind a PBR occasionally either. :) Not my first choice but up at deer camp or at a bar where that is the "premium" selection it does the trick.
