A few days ago, I posted some porno of three Litto Gomez Diez Small Batch No. 1 cigars.

Well ... Monday night, I lit one up. I'm not going into a review here ... maybe I'll bomb someone with one sometime & make them review it ... I just wanted to show the extent of the oils commin' out of that leaf.

The front of the cigar band ...

And the oil-soaked back ...

We'll just say that this stick lives up to it's hype but I don't know if I would quite say that it lived up to it's price point. ($16-$17 a stick is pretty damned high) Very full body and LOADS of white smoke. One thing I will say, is that it's one of the few sticks that kicked my ass ... although I had not eaten for several hours when I smoked it, which probably didn't help matters.

Anyway ... very seldom do I peel off a band to see anything but clean, white paper on the back, so I thought I'd share.

Very interesting.....I'm going to look at the back of every cigar band from now on........as if the ritual of smoking didn't have enough steps.......

Cool! I actually use the "label oil saturation" technque to choose cigars at the B&M - especially Davidoffs. As rolled, the Davidoff label is very white, but slowly takes on a sandy hue as oils from the wrapper permeate the label. The off-white or light tan labels mean that a great semi-aged smoke is in store. This also applies to other lighter colored labels.

Sometimes, one can also see oil saturation in the box sides or back and in packing paper as well.
