I am out of room in my humidors and i am out of beads. I am thinking using Tupperware or something along the line because funds are short. so here is my thinkings nice size container of tupperware, then a small dish of distilled water placed inside, then cigars and a lid. Will the open container of distilled water taint the cigars in anyway?

You've got two problems here:

1. Possible spills from an open container of water
2. MOLD!!! Standing water in a humidor often results in mold. After a few weeks you'll start to notice some stuff floating in your water dish. Ewww!

I know how to fix the spill problem but the other problem how do i deal with that? and if i notice that float in there, can't i just change the water and be ok. its going to be in a clear container so watching it won't be too hard to do.

If this is only temporary you can use a new sponge and distilled water. But this will not regulate humidity, it will continue to add humidity until the sponge dries out. Kinda like dancing on a razor blade. If you have an empty box, I would put my smokes in the box and then the box in the tupperware. I would not recommend this type of storage for more than 2 weeks. And it will require opening the tupperware every couple of days to be sure too rh doesnt get too high. :2

From what I've read on here, you basically don't need anything in the tupperware, as it holds the humidity pretty well. What I would do, is sit the tupperware with the sticks in it inside the humi for a little while, then close it immediately; it should retain that humidity for quite some time. Also, there's little humi packs you can buy online or even on c-bid much much cheaper than beads, that can hold you over inside the tupperware until you figure out where to go from there.

If you are on a budget and going to do tupperware get one that seals air tight and a water pillow or boveda pack. Works fine for me. My desk humi is a tupperware type box by snapware that has a gasket around the rim for a airtight seal. Holds 65% nicely. Sticks are perfect and ready to smoke.

to resolve the mold problem just smok'em faster for spills us something on the bottom maybe some pipe tobacco, just some thoughts

there is a pretty cheap way to use Propelyne Glycol and floral foam. If I remember correctly it is a 50% distilled water And 50% glycol. This will get you a RH of 70%. There is a way to manipulate the RH but seemed to be more involved. You can find floral foam at any craft store , florist , garden center. As far as I know they can not use Propelyne Glycol to make crystal meth. So you can buy it at a pharmacy. You need to talk to the pharmacist. A pint of the stuff cost me about $3 ten years ago.You will have more glycol than you know what todo with. Becarful for spills on floors. It will not dry and is very slippert. Trust me on that one. This all would set you back about $10-$15. Do a search here I've seen some stuff about it when lurking. Good luck.

the amount of beads im assuming you'll need would be about $15 as well and it's MUCH more hassle-free
