Opinions of Nub Cigars

Anyone have a review of one of these babies. I always wanted to try one but can't find them here in Winnipeg. Are they a quicker smoke? All the things I have read say that they take as long to smoke as a regular length cigar. Any info would be great, may help persuade me to buy a sampler or not.

Not really my thing as the ones I had were uncomfortable to smoke due to the large ring gauge. Out of the three blends I tried I found the Habano to be the most tasty however neither blend nor size within their line would compel me to go out and get a box.

I've visited them all...

The shapes seem awkward, and the only blend that I can tolerate and occasionally buy is the Connecticut.

The flavor is okay on the Habano, but they are to uncomfortable to hold and smoke, so I don't reach for them very often. If you are a fan of giant RG you may like them.

I've sampled exactly... one.. shared with some other poor souls.
For the cost... (and I am assuming it cost between 2 and 20 dollars), you can find many other more tasty smokes. A multitude, even.
Of course, tastes are subjective.
Perry and I did possibly get a slight "buttery toasted-ness" out of it, the other finer, erudite, and most learned palates at the table weren't able to enjoy even part of it.

I'm not looking for "buttered toast" in a cigar, and the rest of it was .. bleh, not enough to be worth purchasing. I do seem to recall some very large flames coming from the amazingly large foot upon lighting. I think Rob lost at least half an eyebrow.

If these were traditional sizes they would be fantastic cigars. However, since they are so short once you tip the ash the first time get ready for a harsh burn across your tongue. The thing is a real tease. Once you really start enjoying it it's too hot and too near your tongue to enjoy. You can smoke them for 30-45 minutes but after 15-20 minutes you are really going to be fighting it.

Thanks for all the info. I think I will wait to try one and spend my money on something I know I will like.:ss:ss:ss

Just a big ole' Oliva. The habano torpedo is nice because you can avoid the uncomfortable ring size with the decent taperign shoulder.

I thoroughly enjoyed the one Habano I had. Great flavor, construction, all that. My issues are that it is a quick cigar regardless of what the press says. Also, it got uncomfortably close to my fingers pretty quick. I felt like I was nubbing it 20 minutes in. The ash held on through the entire experience...definitely different.

I agree with the other guy that said it would be a great cigar in a traditional size and shape.

If the size of a Nub is what intrigues you, I would highly recommend the Casa Magna Torito-- 4.75" x 60RG. Blows any Nub outta the water. I can't upload pictures right now where I'm at but I have a good one of these standing up on the ash.

When they came out i had a habano it was great, tried another a month later and was bland.I think they are hit or miss!:2:ss

I think they suck.

That is strictly my opinion, though everyone I have smoked one with in person said the same.

I'm actually smoking a connecticut right now. I got a box of the first release, and they've been settling in the humi since then. I must say, they have improved slightly; but absolutely an improvement. I will see how they go in the next months.

I really tried to like these, as I do enjoy many of Olivia's offerings. I smoked three of each wrapper after varying periods of rest and found them to be lacking in richness and complexity. I also found myself having to slow my smoking to a snails pace just to keep the damn thing from burning to hot.
