So I was just reading barbourjay's thread shop refuses to sell opus... and I don't want to discuss what happened. I started this new thread so I would not jack his... my question is this, being a noob to cigars are these Opus and Anejo cigars that good or are that just that rare?

heheeh multiple threads on this. Some people like...some don't like.
I think for the money some of these B&M charge...you can buy more quantity of other products from other islands that are better.

If they are at MSRP or a couple of bucks above they are worth it to me. If the place is charging 25 a stick? Not a chance.

They are just rare supply and demand, to me they are just okay cigars. I can do much better for my money.

Good, but there are better momre accessible cigars at the same price or less available.

I like variety so grab a few of each when they are available at MSRP. I don't go insane looking at every shop for them though.

In my opinion, you can do alot better for the money. I feel at MSRP, or close, they are not bad. When shops go overboard with the price, it is insane. My local B&M does a good job at being only a few bucks over MSRP.

They're an okay overpriced smoke IMO. But to each their own. I would rather have a ZINO, DC MAX, AVO 80th, VSG etc. and they're not as hard to obtain.

Everyone has an opinion..and for retail or a lil more not a bad smoke..are there better for less...in my opinion YES...yours..dont know...yet...

as for the VSG, Zino, DC maxx and such..I can find the opus and anjeo here easier than those..sometimes..LOL

Really I have a worse time finding opuses than vsg's and such. Everytime I find a shop with an opus there is always a limit on what I can purchase.

Might have to visit the B&M's in Wichita someday :ss

They are pretty full flavored cigars, and definately worth trying (it's damn near guaranteed you'll enjoy it), but might want to wait a little longer until your palette develops enough to really "get it". If you find some for retail, pick 1 up and put it in the humidor for a while. Wait for a special occasion and a full stomach...then fire it up!

I'm not a cigar expert, but I have tried both and I prefer the Opus. It's a good cigar and I'll smoke them on special occasions. The Anejo's are OK, but not to my taste. Best thing I can recommend is try one or two of each and make your own opinion. If you like it, and you think it's worth the money, that is all that matters. :)

I've only ever had 1 Opus and it was outstanding. I've since picked up about 10 more to share or save for a special smoke. My B&M has them at retail so I'll usually grab one when I go in.

I agree, if I find them at or slightly above msrp, I'll pick some up. Perfexion X, Petit Lancero, and Fuente Fuente are my faves right now. #77 anejo is a damn good smoke imho.

If your palette isn't so developed right now it would be a waste.

Like others have said here, it's a matter of personal taste. Neither of em are the "Holy Grail" of cigars but they are good in my opinion. Are they worth the Price? That depends on how deep your pockets are.

I smoked an Opus Power ranger the other day (petit lancero) that had a couple years of age on it and it was pretty good.

For me, give me a just about any Cuban cigar and I'll be twice as happy and probably have paid half the price.

I like Anejos a bit more, but not much.
