You when a person asks a legit question, some of you are real assholes. I started using this forum because i thought it was full of adults who acted as such. But just this one post is such a disgrace to me it pitaful. Maybe my skin isnt thick enough, or im taking alll this way too personal. But anyways, im done....i will just browse from now on, i wont be posting anymore. Thanks.

example...if you (by you, i mean anyone) were buying one from someone and it didnt have the cello on, you may be more prone not to buy it because you may not trust the way it was stored, ie in the correct environment.

So we can atually take this discussion one step further with opusX. Do people remove the cedar wraps for storage (yes this has been discussed before)? You could have made your poll:

cello on, with cedar
cello on, no cedar
no cello, with cedar
no cello, no cedar

Personally, I am a cello on, cedar off guy, just because I have had bad experiences with cedar and anejos. Although I have not heard of the same problem with opus, I still remove the cedar.

A while back I decided to sell a portion of my opusX and just made it clear that the cedar had been removed (from the ones that come with cedar). One of the buyers asked if there was a problem and I gave him that same explanation and he bought them.

You have to remember, not everyone buys cigars to collect. So if you decide to sell some opusX 5 years down the round. The person might not care if there is no cello as they bought it to smoke it. :D

In terms of buying cigars to collect and sell for a profit in the future, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. People collect and sell vintage cuban cigars for a profit all the time. Why should it be different for opusX? If someone is willing to pay for it, that is all that matters.

If you had a box of original release opusX or 8 year old opusX, I bet you could easily sell it for more assuming you could prove the age.

If this was connected to my questions in any way I really did not mean to offend you. I am just curious as to why the cello being on or off the cigar would lead anyone to question it's storage conditions.

We are acting like adults. Adults rib each other all the time. As adults we take it and give it back out when appropriate. Pouting is not something adults do so, um...

Nothing done here was personal, if you want to take it as such, well that is up to you. I think you are missing out on a lot of fun you can have here if you decide not to participate anymore.

Let's pretend like you are having an off morning and you come back and we all have fun another time, shall we?

I think anytime you change something it can lead to questions of storage.

For example, when I buy boxes of Tatuajes, I open the box and remove the paper to inspect the cigars. I then put the cigars back into the box without the yellow ribbon and paper. I have no intention of selling these, but if I did, I might not remove the paper and ribbon.

Same with vintage cuban cigars, an unopened box is going to fetch a lot more than a partial box.

Of course, just because cigars are intact in the original box does not mean they were stored well.

If someone is buying opusX to collect and sell in the future, I would probably leave them the way they came, but that is just me.

I agree 100% with this. However he asked would it not lead to concerns over their storage conditions. My answer was no. Of course I would not buy from someone I did not trust cello or no cello.

Damn, how did I miss this one?

Alright assholes, I will teach you all how to do this correct. Take everything off until the cigar is naked, then put everything back on in reverse order. Cello first, then the band and the ribbon, then finish it with the cedar. That way you get the same visual effect but the cedar and ribbon and band don't effect the flavor because they are outside the breathable, tasteless cello :r

Like all other cigars, it is personal preference how you store them, no right way, no wrong way :tu

I got a small amount of a few different opus from different years, all have cello on. Anejos on the other hand I took them out of the cedar from the mold issue from 07 I think.

oh well thats my :2

Better get used to that performance by the Cheifs....its not goin away any time soon lol

budkole, I absolutely hate it when someone says to use the search feature. If it offends someone to have to respond to the same question that was already asked, don't respond. Your posts of "Use search" just waste bandwith and make the OP feel bad.

Budkole, If I have a cigar with cello on, I leave it on. I just cut off the end of the cello at the head. I don't know why, but I just do it that way. I figure that both ends get equal humidity.

Also, the cello helps keep the wrapper from getting damaged :tu

I do not like an Opus with much age on it. It tends to lose the power and flavor it started out with. That being said, I treat them just like my other cigars. Singles mostly get the cello off and if in boxes they stay on.

I treat them just like my other cigars.

:tpd: I know they can be expensive, but they are stored just like anything else. I usually keep the celo on for the extra protection, but if I plan to smoke it right away, I will take the celo off.
