Maturing Primate
Hey guys! Just wanted to ask for a little help here. I was gifted an Opus X by tidefan not too long ago and that is sitting in my humi for now. I am planning on keeping it for a little bit and smoking it on my bday in November. ANyways, I heard that these sticks REALLY get better with time so I was wondering where you people buy yours? I snooped around online and a lot of places either dont have them or their markup is ridiculous! I am looking to only get 2 or so. I want to age one for 2 years for when I graduate college and then another for 6 years for when I graduate grad school. Im even thinking of saving the Tat black I have for a while too.

Ive been considering buying some PAM's also, ( Love those things) so if anybody knows of a site with good pricing on the Pams and Opus let me know.
Thanks in advance.

I'm on a call list at a local cigar shop. When they get their small allotment 2 - 3 times a year they give me a call. They usually let me buy 5 at a time.

I'm stocking up to age them and issue them when my son graduates college and some for when he gets married. He only just now is getting ready to start his Senior year of high school. Only he will determine how much age gets on them (and he has no idea what I'm doing). I would say they should be quite nice by then.

Opus X cigars are great right out of the gate. But they do just get better and better the more time you let them rest. It's just so hard to let them rest.:D

I buy them when my local shope has them. They sell them very close to MSRP, so I can't see paying the prices most other shops charge. Also keep your eye on the want to sell thread, they go up there for a decent price from time to time.

My advice is listen to the others here: find a local B/M who will put you on a call list or such and buy a couple sticks every shipment they get(usually 2-3 shipments a year). DON'T pay the crazy proces like on CBid or other online sites!! They take a little work but can be found at close to MSRP... Good Hunting!:ss

Im on the call list at all 5 local B&Ms, whenever anything comes in, I am good to go. One B&M where I do most of my shopping, am a regular is allowing me a box purchase when they get their holiday shipments in, so I am just waiting. :ss

TampaSweethearts should have them in stock. Give them a call as they dont list the premiums like Opus' or Hemingway Mad's on the site. If you buy a bundle of Tampa Sweethearts(great cheap smoke) you can buy up to two of each premium. :tu

I buy from my local at MSRP. They get them in 3-4 times a year.

BTW I like them better fresh. (About 2-3 weeks after being in my cooler):tu

I could grab a dozen locally every year at a bit over MSRP. But honestly, I don't buy them anymore. Overpay for a mediocre stick that I won't even enjoy for 5+ years? No thanks. They're good, but not exactly 18-year-old-swedish-twins good, despite what many will lead you to believe. Much better sticks out there for much cheaper, especially if you look outside the conventional market...
