I see photos where everyone has taken them apart for better airflow and then used a rubber band to hold the battery in. I wanted to use mine standing up. With slightly more work you can. With just a little cutting you get this:

Everything stays together and works as intended.

Do you notice if it's helped at all?

I can't tell if it effects anything vrs the non altered fan and I never ran one with the rubber band mod. With these modded this way they just seem more functional. If nothing else they look better with very little work.
