Padilla Habano flavor falling flat?

Footbag

La Aroma de Gorilla
I have had a few Padilla Habanos in my humidor for a few months. I was down to one that was still a DPG produced one, and then a few Padilla Produced. I've had plans to taste both cigars to evaluate the differences, and just got around to the test. That said, I lit up the DPG produced one last night and the flavor just wasn't there.
No spice, a touch of toast, but nothing to really make it exciting. In fact the last few DPG Padilla's I've smoked have been lackluster. It was so un-exciting that I'm wondering if I'm even going to bother to try the Padilla blended one. I was never a big fan of Padilla's, but like DPG. This is very mild for a DPG blend. Does anyone else have similar experiences with these cigars. Are they that mild? Do you find the Padilla produced ones to have "Flavored up" or no?

I am not positive but I dont think this was a DPG blend. The only Padilla DPG's I can recall are the 8&11 Miami, 1932 and the original release Achilles. :2

That would explain a lot. I don't know why I was under that impression.

The Habanos are pretty mild to begin with. I like them cause they taste fabulous.
Mine are not very old at all and I'm almost done with the bundle. I've been smoking them since they came off the truck.
That said, they're mellowing fast. Soon they'll be so mild they won't be worth sparking up. Someone's going to like them, though. :tu

I've tried the Padilla Habano, and found it to be milder than i expected. It had a great aroma, burned well, and a good flavor with hint of spice...just not enough of it.

YMMV of course, but the original "Oliva" blended Padilla Habano rocked IMHO. There was nothing mild about it & I blew through a couple of boxes of the robustos in nothing flat. I sent LeafHog one (some of you may remember him :)) & he smoked it after smoking a couple of CC's. He remarked on what a nice cigar it was & praised it's ability to hold it's own following a couple of CC's.

I haven't tried the new blend.

:tpd::tpd: I love these things! And for people who don't need their doors blown off with a powerhouse smoke, the Padilla Habanos certainly fit the bill. They're deelish :ss

Where in heaven's name did you find Padilla Habanos in bundles? Are they the new blend, or the old one? Are you certain the cigars you have are not the Padilla Hybrid? They have been bundling this cigar for some time now.

When did Oliva split with Padilla on this blend?

These must be pre and post Oliva's as opposed to DPG's.
