If I'm smoking at home, I usually set it down. I have a special stand that I made out of wood to set my stogie on between puffs. If I'm out, I usually don't. If I need my hands free, I keep it in my mouth. I hate to set something I'm going to put back in my mouth down on any surface in a public place.
 
I hold it the entire time, except for when I have to flip or baste whatever's grillin', or when I have to go inside to refill drinks.
 
I usually hold it. If I put it down I will end up having to relight and thats just a pain in the ars! (and my fuel):ss
 
You guys that never set it down are my idols. You must have three or four arms. I can't play pool, take a shot of whiskey and kill a beer holding my cigar. My hat is off. I just like ensuring that the stog is placed safe when my hands go to doing other things:tu

It really depends where I am. Bar, yeah I keep my Palio handy and rest it on that. Garage or outside, no. Driving, heheheh no.
 
Usually standing/sitting around with friends not doing anything else than smoking/drinking. It verrrry rarely leaves my hand...until that beast is smoked that is :ss
 
Driving = In hands always (damn thing will always fall on the carpet)
Apartment Balcony = On the stinky (that sounds soooo DRRTY!)
Herf'n = Any level ledge where appropriate to set it on (aka non-expensive items)
 
Cooking in the back, yea, I set it down. When my neighbors and myself have The Great Smoke Off every week, it never leaves my hand. At a herf-never put it down.
 
I have to put my cigar down otherwise I'll puff the hell out of it and it'll get hot and start burning and tasting crappy.
I'm a former cigarette smoker (I quit last Saturday and it's killin me!) so perhaps I'll eventually retrain myself to smoke cigars properly and not like cigarettes.

Guess I really hadn't thought about it much... but I do set it down two or three times. :ss

I voted never let it go. Which I don't but I just realized I do when I golf which is next to never lately. Other than that I never let it go.
