I used the beads until I got my Aristocrat with active electronic humidification.

Beads are great....the Set & Forget is unbelievable!! :tu

Been making the switch to beads only in all of my humis/tupperdors/coolerdor. They are just the best thing I have seen... :ss

Well, I have only one desktop humidor, and really don't plan on getting anything bigger until I can afford the habit. But from my experiences, I've tried the cheap floral foam they give you, the humidifier crystal/gel, the boveda packs, and the beads. Overall, the beads are definitely the most cost effective and tied with the boveda packs for ease of use. The crystal/gel stuff kept my cigars way too humid and the floral foam was just garbage.

Considering all the responses we see on the board when people ask questions, I'm not at all surprised by the results.

A huge portion of the people use beads, and the next largest group of people use electronic humidifications -- probably for the people who have large cabinet humidors. :)

Avallo Accumonitor = Best humidification system bar none. Top25Cigar gave it a top score of A+

I use the humidification silicone gel. It seems to work pretty well, but I am having some problems with the development of some black spots, they say its not mold. I am working on taking it back to the Tobacconist, they said they have a lifetime garauntee.

I'm using humidification beads that hold the humidity dead on at 65% in my Aristocrat Mini. I've also got a Cigar Oasis that is set just below 65% so that after the door has been opened and then closed the humidity recovers quickly. Looking at what I just wrote I see that I have mind f****d this thing... Oh well it keeps me off the street. :ss

beads and electronic humidification in my cabinet humidor

Has worked on my AH2K going on it's 3rd yr, with fluctuations of no more than 2 percentage points primarily due to seasonal changes and sometimes my inability to refill the water containers on schedule.
The elec. humi device was designed to circulate humidified air once the humidity drops a couple of percentage points below the setting and often run past that setting before it stops. It does not however remove excess humidity, nor does it constantly circulate the air unless there is a change in the humidity.

Little under 1 pound of 65% beads from Heartfelt, and an Oasis XL Plus. Keeps my 28 bottle wine cooler at a perfect 65%.

I have a CO xl and about half a pound of beads. I don't need the CO but I'm lazy and in the winter without it I have to add water to the beads once or twice a week. With the CO I only refill the cartridge once or twice a year.

Just bought my first humi yesterday! One of the employees suggested that I should use the Boveda packs because of ease of use so thats what I am currently using. :tu
