Punch Rare Corojo Rothchild
5x50
Filler – Dom/Hon/Nic, Binder – Hon, Wrapper – Sumatra

A Rosado like wrapper so smooth it looks like it was ironed on and the twin red and gold bands of the Rare Corojo edition made this cigar pretty as a picture. Cuadrado pressed and packed tight in the box, it was hard to pry this gem loose. Once out the flawless, oily wrapper was silky to the touch and the cigar smelled faintly of spice, slightly reminiscent of good pipe tobacco. Under the press the construction was excellent, and the clip revealed an easy draw.

A slight hint of paraffin accompanied the initial puffs and soon relented to the spicy and satisfying Honduran profile that Punch is known for. Medium bodied, building to medium full, this cigar produced large clouds of mouth filling smoke, perfect for smoke rings. A nicely formed ash clung tightly, and the aroma was intoxicating with a warm whiskey tinted note to it. As it burned the cigar swelled to a nice round shape at the burn, perfectly spongy at that juncture, but it stayed firm and tight at the head.

Paired with a diet cola, the cigar delivered a nice tangy counterpoint to the sweetness with a slightly lighter, but equally satisfying, flavor profile than its double maduro cousin. Apparently perfectly blended, aged, and humidified, the cigar rested comfortably for several minutes between puffs with no problems, and the lovely finish filled in the gaps admirably.

Not a novelty as some of the trendy annual release offerings tend to be, overall this is a very fine example of a well blended and well presented cigar. Unique in the Punch line for its square press and reddish Sumatran wrapper, this is a wonderful and well priced cigar. Highly recommended.

Thanks for the review, I am down to one of these, and I have enjoyed every one. The size on these is just right, and the Rare Corojos deliver a good flavor blast. The Rare Corojos, while a little bit expensive, are a good "go-to" NC smoke that will always deliver in a pinch.
