Question for the pepin hoes

I picked up a couple Pepin black labels yesterday, and as I'm drying this one for a bit before lighting it up tonight I was admiring and smelling it, and it smells, literally, like chocolate

even my wife commented that it didn't smell like a cigar

now, the shop where I bought this had the pepins near some flavored cigars (the Java's I believe), but not right next to them

is this gonna be a DPG Java because of this? I guess my question is, these don't normally smell like a hersheys bar right?

Most likley not unless they were in a very small dispaly style humidor. If it was in a walk in I doubt it.

Just pulled one out and had my wife smell it (my nose is not good) and she said it had a hint of chocolate but not as strong as you describe.

hmmm.... well maybe it is normal then, I may be exaggerating a bit, but it's noticably chocolaty

and don't get me wrong, if that's how these are then great, yummy, I just want an accurate portrayal is all

Just sniffed the cuban classic in my humi, didn't smell like chocolate. If it was in a humi the size of a room, I wouldn't worry about it picking up flavors from flavored cigars.

No in order for flavors and smells to transfer it would have to be in contact directly and it would take a very long time.

hmm ok, that's good to know, maybe I'm just worrying, but it's quite chocolaty

maybe it's just this one or something

Hmm thats odd. I'm getting a five pack of these in the mail in a few days. I'll let you know If I smell any chocolatey goodness.

thanks

and you know, maybe it was the swiss miss I snorted earlier, who knows

I wish those black labels lasted long enough in my coolidor so I could go join in the smelly goodness with you guys. They disappear quick when I have them! Very flavorful smoke.

well I smoked mine tonight and had to quit it early

the chocolatyness was not an issue, but it was still to wet from the B&M

I need get a couple more and let them sit at my 65% for a while first. I couldn't taste anything and it had burn issues

I discovered these smoke a little better when they are drier. Had a Figuardo split on me...dry boxed the next one and it was fantastic.

I am smoking a cuban classic right now with burn issues, but it is damn good. And for the original post, mine didn't smell like chocolate. Im not really tasting any right now either.

Yes, dry boxing these babies is the way to go IMHO. I had a black dry boxed for about 2-3 days. It was :dr.

I got mine and gave it a big whiff for you. I smell what you're smelling. It's like the chocolate on a truffle thats kind of bitter but kind of sweet.

So yeah, don't worry about your sticks, they're fine :tu
