Quick Humi Question

Ok, so the double sided velcro on my humi is no longer sticking, so I was thinking I would just super glue it on the lid. Is this a bad idea?

I would buy some more velcro. If not, make sure you let it air out for at least 24 hours before you put your sticks back in. Just my :2

Yes, unless you let it air out for a very long time. If you don't and trap the fumes inside that humidor you are gonna have a whole bunch of cigars to throw away. Just take them out and make sure you air it out for a few days of not a week. :tu

I have found that the hygrometers that use magnets are ALOT more effective at hanging on than velcro. :2

If I'm understanding correctly....The one "side" of your velcro that is applied to your hygrometer....is not "attaching" to the other "side" of the velcro that is applied to your lid.

If this is the case...velcro is a "hook and loop" system and can get "clogged" over time. Take a small pocket knife...turn it blade side up(or down if dull) and run it or pass it through the hook "side"...The hook side is the stiff one....not the softer "fabric" side.

You'll be amazed at some of the "stuff" that'll come out of it and it should be "refreshed"...If the fabric side is really "matted" down...you can "poke" at that as well.

I've used superglue for the velcro and to put magnets up. I've not had any type of problem from it.

I would be afraid of spilling water on my smokes if I couldn't remove the puck to recharge.

Another vote for magnets. It is much easier to take the Hygrometer or humistat out if necessary with no ill effects to the magnet. The velcro just wears out over time.
Plus the magnet is a much lower profile/cleaner solution. You can find self adhesive magnets for almost nothing in Wal-mart or Dollar Stores.

I've super glued the magnet bases in my humidor and didn't have one problem. I never took my sticks out and the super glue dried in a few minutes. I also used some double sided tape, heavy duty from Ace, for another magnet that came loose.
