Some of you folks must have read some good cigar books, informative and educational and the like. Chime in and list them!

I have read

Complete Idiots Guide to Cigars
Cigar Aficionados Cigar Companion

I started last year with the Cigar Aficionados Cigar Companion.

This year I ordered MRN's book. I highly recommend it.

January's Playboy has an interesting article and a really good interview. I forget who it was with or what the article was about. I think there was a few cigar ads in the magazine too!

For new smokers keep it simple at first with Idiots gide to cigars, once you deside cigar smoking is for them then branch off to other publications.

Needed something to read on vacation a few months back. This was excellent!
I was pleasantly surprised at the range of topics it covered.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Cigars, 2nd Edition

This might seem out of line but why is the MRN book so damn expensive...feels like I am buying textbooks for college again..

MRN was a very limited initial publication and is now out of print. Plus it is a large book and nearly every page is full color pictures.

I waited a year before I purchased it thinking that money would be better spent on cigars. Now that I have it, I'm very glad I made the purchase.

A $125 book about cigars!? That's pretty much a box of sticks right there... I am sure it is a great book, but cigars aren't bikini models, and dropping a c-note to stare at pics of sticks isn't a justifiable expense in my world.

Still, I'd love to thumb through it if I knew someone who had it...

For me, it wasn't so much about the pictures, although they are nice, but the tasting notes, aging notes and strength notes so I can compare to them to the notes on other cigars for a more accurate understanding and estimation of things I have not been privileged enough to sample.

I picked mine up for $75 in a group buy right here on Club Stogie. $125 does seem expensive. It's a very limited edition item. It is "the bible" for post-embargo Cuban cigars. No other book comes close.

There's rumors of a new edition in preparation; presumably that would cost less. There again, there have been rumors of a new edition for years. It's basically a labor of love by a guy for whom cigars are a hobby, not a business, published privately. He's in no big hurry.
