Well now this was my first RP Sun Grown. It was a robusto. ANd my first true FULL body stick. Here we go.

[pre light]
There werent any veins in the wrapper and it was a constant color all over. It was very well constructed. Had a great draw and hints of fruid prior to lighting.

I was having a terrable time figguring out how to describe the flavor in other words than BLAND. It did however have lots of billowing smoke. Too much if thats possible. Had a very straight burn. Almost as straight as the cut of the cap. I really wasnt enjoying it very much. I was starting to develop a buzz.

A little coffee/earth flavor poked its head out but was short lived. I diddnt notice any spice to it. Kept the bland flavor going strong. I started drinking some tea with alot of sugar to combat the buzz with little effect.

I was determined to finish this cigar but the blandness was overwhelming as well as the nicotine. I was unable to "nub" this cigar because of the buzz so i had to call it quits prematurely.

[overall]
I really did try to find the flavor and uniqueness of this cigar but to me the blandness and the full body just left me unsatisfied and feeling "floaty" Im munching on some top ramen and drinking tea to get my head straight. I hay give it another go later on but i guess im still a light weight.

5.8/10

The RP sungrown has to grow on you. It's not as stout as the LFD Double Ligero or the VSG. To me personally it is a med-full body smoke. If you want something that will knock your socks off have one aforementioned stogies or a well aged LGC series R NO. 5 maduro.

Great review

Yeah, Mark... its a little bit of an acquired taste. May need to rest a bit, too. :ss

OH! And don't try the strong ones smokinpoke recommended... your parents would have you in urgent care! :r

HAHA i only smoke at my girlfriends house. Her mom actually condines it.

love your reviews great pics keep them coming. this just shows that not every cigar is for you. But i wouldnt be surprised if you come back to it in a year and love it. I used to swear by CAO and R&J but am not so fond of them now.

:tpd: That's the beauty of this hobby what I might think is great others might not enjoy. But one thing is for sure Cigar smoking is a great hobby.

Its so much fun doing reviews! I sit outside all bymyself with my drink, lighter, cutter, ashtray, my phone(for pics), and a pen and paper. My goal is to do atleast one a week.

thanks for the review.. i just picked up a few of these and cant wait to try them... i like strong cigars.. the LFD's are one of my favs..i used to only smoke 3 cigars.. i have recently began to try new things and my collection is getting too big.. i am yet to post a review.. maybe one day..

Nice review Mark...something must really be wrong with me...I find the RP Sun Growns more on the Mild-Medium end...
Im still pretty new to the cigars i been smoking about a year now. Always mild like mac's but recently i found CS and decided that paying 8 bucks to smoke air is dumb.

Sort of matches my thoughts on the RP 1992. I have a RP1990 in the humi, I don't see me hitting it any time soon.

The 1990 is more of a medium body cigar and it is my favorite cigar of all time so far. In comparison for me the 1990 has more flavor and it definitely isn't gonna lay you out on your ass afterwards. So i guess what im saying is dont be afraid of the 90

Crap, I bought a box of these a few months ago but haven't smoked one in awhile. I'd better check one out this afternoon to make sure they haven't "gone bad" on me.

I'm constantly amazed at the wide range of opinions on various cigars. Olivas get a lot of good press here but I thought the 3 varities I tried (3, 5 packs of maduros) were half way decent for a $2.00. Of course, they cost more than that. There's been lots of "thumbs up/ thumbs down" on Partagas Blacks. Of course, cigars I really liked 2-5 years ago, I know longer enjoy. Good thing they make so many cigars to choose from:)

I have had several of the sun growns. I have found some to be on the medium side, while others are just pure powerhouses. Regardless of their strength I have enjoyed them all. Thanks for the review.

Rp sungrown is a top shelf smoke. One of very favorites. Sorry to her you had bad experince . I would definitly give them another try..

I got a tin of the Junior's this past weekend . I loved 'em. Lots of smoke and flavor for a wee stick.

I 'm on the fence to try some regular Junior's now.... I think I may be slightly dissapointed after the Sun Grown.

RP's are quickly finding their way to my humidor.
