Sail Makers Wax

So, I did some reading on improving my seal of my humidor and read good things about using sail makers wax. So, it just arrived and now I'm wondering exactly how I use it. It is rather solid. I'm assuming I can kind of rub it on, but wondering if anyone has any tips.

Yep Sail Makers Wax - aka Bees Wax - is rather stiff. You can simply rub it in but you may want to soften it a bit with a hair dryer first. Then use a piece of cheesecloth to smooth/even it out.

I tried it with a nice lacquered desktop-quality cigarbox/humi and never had great luck creating a good, rh-stable box. I'd be interested in your results.
