Sancho Panza Double Maduro Quixote

Fill it up AGAIN!!!
Well this being my first review I am a little nervous.

I picked up a box of these 2 months ago after reading about the high praise the SPDM were receiving. I had one right out of the mail mans hands and another a week later. They were both really good. But this one, this one takes the cake (so far).

Pre-light: This little booger looks almost like a chocolate log (for lack of a better word) it was shimmering and oily and.... i better stop before i have another one. Aroma was great with almost a choco-leather smell.

Fire up: This stick was very easy to light. I toasted the foot for a few minutes and it was ready to rock. The first draw was easy and smooth. I picked up on scents of coffee(maybe) and cocoa. Very nice in my opinion. The flavor profile did not change for the first half and I was very happy with that.

Ash: The ash on this stick held on for 1 3/4" before I had to give it a tap, which is awesome for a smaller smoke. This is almost half the cigar.

2nd half: The 2nd half started off the same as the first and then BAM it hit me. The flavor profile did not change! NO, even better it just simply added to the already great profile to make an even better smoke. With the "cocoa-ey" flavor still there some great earthy tones started picking up and even a little kick presented itself.

For the money paid ($41 shipped from JR) this is a great smoke for any Maduro lover or any cigar lover alike. Highly recommended in my book.

I ended up smoking this thing to the nub. Maybe beyond the nub I think I might need medical attention to my fingers for the burns I received trying to hold on as long as I could.

I did not even think about pics until the very end so I took a pic of the nub and i will throw in one of a new one just for visual purposes.

I hope this reveiw was helpful to some of my B/SOTL's and hopefully you all get a chance to try one of these inexpensive Gems.

I hope they all get better along the way.

Nice review. These are great smokes for the price, the only complaint I have with them is that the whole cap seems to come off way too easy.

I have a box of these, they have been sitting since August. I've only had one, I will try them again in August. :tu

I really enjoy these and they have always been a consistent smoke.... These were among some of the first cigars I tried and I still smoke them on a regular basis.

You're spot on with your review, my thoughts exactly. If you liked this one, you should try the Escudero. At 7.5", that sucker is one of the longest sticks in my newbie humidor! I had one last night (in front of a roaring fire in my trusty Weber grill) - loved it! :ss

Right on. I'll have to check out the other sizes for sure.

Thanks

I'm glad this thread popped up. I was down to my last two Quixote's so ordered a box this am.

The caps have been a problem in the past for me, especially if you use a punch. Since getting my Palio, I've not had any problems. My previous, inferior cutters would cause the cap to come off, too.

Did your SP boxes have a heavy laquer smell? The last four boxes I ordered smelled like they just came out of a body shop. Needless to say, those boxes did not go into my coolers.

Now that you mention it ..... it did have a pretty noticeable smell. I just took out the smokes and put them in the humi so I never really thought about it until I read your post. I wonder why they use so much laquer.
Maybe they make fresh boxes everyday for shipping. :ss

Just had the second one out of my box that has been sitting for 5 months. Great smoke! Even better now that they have rested a bit. My box was stinky so I put the sticks in the humi and let it sit for a week before I boxed them back up and put them in the Avanti. I have also had problems with the caps, on the two from my box and a bunch of singles I picked up, even using my palio.

I bought a 5 er of the Cervantes, WOW what a great smoke, and that was right from the B&M. I too had a problem with the cap and I too used a Palio (thanks beachcougars).

I've got a couple I picked up at my B&M and after reading this, I can't wait to try them. I seem to like most maduros so it seems I made a good pick. Thanks guys! :ss
