Short cigar questions...

Young Chimp
I don't really have time at work to smoke a giant cigar. So I'd like to pickup a few small.. "1/2 lenght"?? shorter cigars to try and maybe pickup a box of something decent.

I stopped by a place near my office whilest looking for an ATM machine and picked up a NUB(thats what it says on the wrapper) Cameroon, Olivia Series G, NUB Connecticut to smoke along with a case to haul stogies around in.

Expensive break you could say... haha

Anyway..

Any suggestions on some good light shorties? (term?) and the best place to pickup a box of them for a fair price?

Thanks
Jake

I'll be the first of probably many to say Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Story (EDIT: DAMN it, second!). Nice little smoke. Also consider 5 Vegas Gold Nuggets. The little Oliva Serie Gs were a good choice :tu Beware of the NUBs though - they take a lot longer to smoke than you think ;)

Cigars International and Taboo Cigars are always good places to look for good prices. Also JR Cigars, Atlantic Cigar, Holts and CigarBid are other places to go (beware of CBid though - it will leave you a broken, penniless, divorced shell of a man, but you'll have a great collection of cigars!).

I'm in the same position as you, being a student. During the week I can't sit around for an hour to smoke a cigar so I'm on the search for the perfect small cigar or cigarillo. I ordered some Davidoff cigarillos, Macanudo Ascots as well as some Rocky Patel Juniors from Atlantic Cigar. I found their prices to be pretty good. So far I've only tried the Ascots and they are pretty good.

If you want to go with a good cigar that won't break the bank I would go for the Rocky Patel Juniors. It's a small version of the Vintage line at 4x38.

They come 40 to a box with a everyday price tag of $49.99. I think I picked mine up from one of their weekly specials for $39.99.

Pretty good smoke for the price. It won't break your heart to toss it before it's done either.

I would agree with the Tatuaje Havana VI Angeles. Also I suggest the CAO Black VR Mural. Its a personal favorite as it is a complex, firecracker of a cigar packed in a petit corona vitola that takes maybe 20-30 minutes if you smoke slowly. I'm polishing off the last of my second box at the moment :ss

I bought a box of 30 Rocky Patel Jr. maduros and they are a very nice, 1/2 hr. smoke.

I was on a never ending search for the short smoke and bought tons of tins to try. I was always disappointed in that they never seemed to taste like their bigger brothers that they were modeled after. Then I found the Padron Corticos. I buy them every chance I get now and stopped my quest for others. Inexpensive at under $10 for a tin of 6, 1/2 hour max smoking time, and taste like big brother.

This, of course, assumes you like the way Padrons taste.

Thanks for the replies guys..

I did some more work and then went home and woke up to a slew of choices.

I'll try them all, although not necessarily in order...

The one I had last night... the Camaroon was nice. It did go pretty fast though, but I was driving with both windows down on the freeway.

Today at lunch I'll try the Conneticut NUB.

You can find some good deals on the Punch Champion sometimes, too. Not too much bigger than short story, but a bigger ring gauge.

55 MPH winds will speed up the way a stick burns, in my experience.
