Sleazy Cigar Shop - Gives cigars a bad name?

Cigar Pron, and **** pron, this kind of ingenious act is what makes American Capitalism great! What other country could you find a pairing like this, Power to the people :ss

Maybe it just the libertarian in me, but its his/their shop and they can run it however they seem fit.

I agree 100%.
As long as no one is hurt, everyone should be allowed to go to hell in their own handbasket.
A person should be allowed to run their business as they see fit, without interference from the average joe or the goverment. Profits and losses will dictate if the stay in business or not.

Sorry if offended anyone, it's something I fill strongly in

One of the shops I go to sometimes back home (b/c it was 2 min from the office) is half a pr0n store, half tobacco/convenience shop, with a walk-in humidor. There is one entrance and you go straight for cigars, and make a hard right for pr0n. You can shop for cigars with no exposure to the preversion. If not, I'd never go there as I am somewhat of a prude.

But they give you black plastic bags to hold your cigars in, and you have to go out the same door the preverts do. I always take my cigars out of the bag in the store and hold them in front of me on the way out, and wave them around a little. "Sure like to buy cigars," I'll exclaim loudly.

Just a question for those of you defending the nude shots posted on the walls, how would you feel if your wife/so were to go in there to buy you some cigars and was exposed to this stuff, nevermind if you wandered in there to buy some cigars and had your kids in tow?

Sounds like my kind of palce. ;) :D

I have never seen so many men get so squeamish about nudie mags....
it's almost funny;)

it's just naked chicks....I personally wouldn't have the mags out if I ran a store...but they obviously have a more targeted market. But I do enjoy the occacional Nudie Mag:D

or like they say at the hustler retail store..."Relax, it's just sex"

I know it's terrible. (sarcasm)
God forbid they see nakid chicks and then go home and watch television shows where people get murdered. But that's OK. It's only TV........and they're only pictures.

I am going on a tangent......or digressing depending on how you look at it.

Why is it that people feel "uncomfortable" with nakedness but not with seeing killing and death and crimes of this nature?

I think it's a question of the setting and the expectations. If I turn on the TV and tune in a crime drama, I expect that I'll see crime. If I watch an R rated or X rated movie, I expect to see nudity. That's a choice you make.

What puts people off is finding these types of things where they don't expect them based on the choice they made. So this thread is more about "wow, I didn't expect to find nudity and **** where I went in to buy cigars."

I think it's a reasonable reaction. Not "uncomfortable with nakedness", but rather "uncomfortable with nakedness where I didn't expect it, and may have brought my wife, kids, etc. without that expectation"

Yup, a tangent :)

No problem with nakedness, I guess I am just more private when enjoying it(?).

See, that's really my only issue with that type of place. I wouldn't be offended or even worried if I walked in there, just a bit surprised or confused.

Everything sort of has its purpose in this world. Steak is for eating, cigars are for smoking, nudies mags are for...yknow. And it's not like you can (or want) to do that in a public place of business... if you're anywhere close to reasonable and normal.

So while I can't say pictures of naked women bother me, I guess I just don't see much of a point in having such a large quantity there. One or two tasteful pin ups is enough to "decorate" or "man up" the place, right?

And also, don't these guys have the effing internet? I don't know if everyone noticed, but nudity is free in the era we currently inhabit.

Ok, yes the **** would kind of make me want to turn around and find a new shop.. Guess there isn't many women that smoke like I do in that area. Then again I did freak a guy out yesterday when I went into a shop and knew what I was talking about with cigars. He was highly surprised when I told him I smoked. Really, is it that odd to have a woman that enjoys a cigar?

I've been following this thread for a day or two without posting. Tell me, who are we to say something doesn't belong somewhere? First of all cigars are for adults; traditionally males, albeit some females do smoke them. Second--- just light up a cigar and sit down on a bench in a public park and watch some of the looks you get. In the minds of most of those people, YOU don't belong there. I think we should all be a little more tolerant. I went to this establisment's web site, and I gotta tell ya, it looks like a pretty friendly place to me. They've been in the cigar business since 1955 so this tells me that they know their stogies and their customers. To summarize... I just think that we cigar smokers should be among the most tolerant people on the planet.

I don't normally equate pr0n with cigar shops, but if they've been around for 50 years I suppose it works for their clientele. As long as the owner wasn't a complete jackass, I'd probably shop there if he had good stock & decent prices. Might not hang around to smoke, though.

On a funny sidenote, I checked out the Bloom website and found this:

Fonseca has a lot of new lines out, I guess--great prices on the May-50s & 8-9-8s (I mean, the "August 9, 2008"s)! :D

My wife could handle it. She knows there are pictures of naked women out there. My kids could handle it. They know the world doesn't revolve arounf their sensibilities. They also understand the value of a free market economy.

Yea, that's kind of a weird atmosphere. If the place seems kinda sketchy, might be careful with what cigars you buy there.

That's not "bloom"

Seriously, as much as I like naked ladies, I'd prefer to keep it away from where the cigars are stored....now say if it were a cigar lounge in a gentleman's club...well that's another story.

After reading this entire thread I have to say that the above is the most intelligent response that I have read and agree with.
I also second the Captain's post.

Is there a sign at the door that states that there is material here for eyes over the age of 18 only?
If so, then the person entering has been warned; if not, then I feel for that woman or child.
