Are those the new Macanudo 1968's? And some Montecristo Media Noche? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on those. (And in buying maybe 3-5 of the Monte's if you wanna sell).

the montecristo media noches are really good, those are some of my favorite cigars. as for the macanudo 1968's, i have not tryed them yet, but one of my buddies had one. he doesn't like mild cigars so hes not a huge fan of macanudo, but he said that those 1968's had good flavor and they gave him a pretty good buzz.

The slope is not the same person to person.

One day you will look back at this post and laugh, because you will realize he was right. :tu

Give it time you will see. I've only been here 7 months and what I originally thought was the slope was a little bump on the top of the hill.

Now I'm free fallin :r

I have been smoking cigars for 7 years. Just because someone doesn't have 3 coolers packed to the brim with cigars doesn't mean they are not on their own slope. It is a little close-minded to think that every slope is the same and that everyone will behave the same way you do.

Why are you trying to create controversy where there is none. Nobody said anything about his slope in a bad light. He has a great collection.

In this hobby you go down more than one slope. It seems that the next slope always seem to be more steep than the last. :tu

Well I think all can agree there IS a slope and if he is thinking of picking up a 3rd humi he is headed down it. Enjoy YOUR slope :chk

:tpd:There is always another slope to be thrown down. Once you get through one, the natural progression is to find another. :tu

Yeah they sorta did. By saying:

My friend, you have not even started down the slope.

It encourages a competitiveness that should not be there. Here is someone that is proud of what he has acquired (proud enough to take and post pictures) and he has people telling him that he hasn't even begun to slope. That is an elitist position. I smoke around 70 cigars a year and if I buy more than 300 I feel a little slopey.

I am not sure that comment is elitist, it is a fair warning. As the OP has already discovered, many people have way more invested in this hobby then he ever expected when he(or any of us, for that matter) started. I think a post warning him about what could be a wild ride was more than warranted (as it happens here frequently) and was not a competitive jab similar to, "I have more than you do".

No one here has the greatest collection in the world, there is always farther to fall. Even you admit that you buy more cigars then you smoke, is that not a slope right there?:tu

The difference is instead of congratulating a person on the slope as experienced so far it is basically saying you don't know what you are talking about because you haven't even begun to slope.

My point is that some casual smokers may not even feel comfortable posting here because the die-hard 3 cooler guy is here to remind them (and me) that we don't have as much. Now the 3 cooler guy doesn't bother me but I am not easily bothered.

My point still stands... the slope is not the same for everyone. FMH may buy another humidor and it stop there. I think he has a nice collection and if he feels he is sloping I hope he is having fun.

I am still confused about where any post/poster made anyone feel like his/her collection is inadequate

i do not believe that this debate should be furthured. when i saw borndead1's post i chuckled. i believe his intention was basically saying that "its only going to get worse" and before i know it, i will have humi's or coolers up the yingyang. now if that was not his initial intention, then i believe he needs to reconsider what he says here. but i dont believe he was trying to be conceded or elitist.:2

now may i request that we stop this debate and actually talk about the initial topic on-hand.

i would much appreciate it,
Bryan:ss
