Smoking at your B&M....

I have always wondered this.

Is it rude to go to your B&M with a cigar from an earlier purchase, and smoke it without buying anything?

I figure that most people dont smoke a cigar they buy the same day and just was not sure on the etiquette of this.

If you're gonna go there and smoke a cigar or two, at least pick up a few singles. It won't kill ya.

I have every intention, I was just wondering if that is considered rude if you are a repeat customer :)

Yup, I don't always smoke what I buy there...in fact, I often send them out in a gift. But I always buy something. :)

Exactly, lately I have just been buying ammo and only smoke what I've been sent. Hell last time I went to my regular B&M I brought a 5 vegas Miami to smoke, I gave it to the owner of the shop to try and he gave me a Tat Havana. A fair trade to me.

I don't know. I feel bad so I always buy something, then smoke what I brought.

I also buy something everytime, unless you are close to the owner and maybe you bring some smokes in to gift him with. Then I would say its ok to smoke personal stock, with the owner.

A fair trade and a nice gesture by both of you. Just got a 5Vegas Miami from a friend, I might have to give it a try this weekend.

I don't know the exact protocol on this one - however I would buy atleast as many sticks as you wish to smoke there, for 2 reasons:

1. You need to restock what you just smoked

2. To support and show appreciation for your local B&M because of them you have a public place to enjoy this great hobby. Many other BOTL out here don't have that luxury due to local laws. I would buy a box of cigars just to have a place to enjoy one or two in public with other BOTL. Awwww who am I kinding I would buy a box anyway even to smoke them alone.

Enjoy and remeber B&Ms need love too.

At the b&m I go to, the owner have a sign posted that says something like if you didn't buy it here, don't smoke it here.
But, I know a guy who works there and he tells me if he's working, he don't care.
I usually bring him a stick in and make a purchase.
At least purchase a single and show them your thankful for a place to smoke indoors.

I think it depends on how well you know the staff...I've thought about this myself. I've finally gotten to know the management at my local B&M, and due to $$ constraints, I've thought of bringing my own in sometime.

But if you're not familiar with the management or the store, I would reccomend against it--to me it would seem as if the "customer" was just turning his nose up at me, something I'm sure most wouldn't appreciate.

I've taken back cigars I'd bought earlier to smoke at the B&M on occassion but I wouldn't make a habbit of it... usually I can't seem to leave that place without a few sticks but if times are tough then what can you do? I usually buy lunch or some coffee if I'm going to just sit there and smoke a previous purchase.
