So Upset.. Tat VI Angeles

Well, after smoking several different sizes of the Tat Havana's and loving them all, I decided to finally buy a box. I decided on the one size I hadn't tried yet (Angeles) mainly due to cost, but also b/c I love the pc size and heard all the great reviews about them.

Well, after letting them sit for a month I decided to light one up last week and all I could say was... UUUGGGHHHH! Soapy, bitter flavors that were nothing like the other Tat Havanas I've smoked. Figuring maybe I just got a bum one, I tried another, then another, then gave some to my brother for him to try and all were AWFUL.

Like an idiot I "smoked" half the box looking for at least ONE good one, not thinking I could maybe bring them back to the B&M and ask for another box. I guess I will let them sit for another 6 mos and pray, but i guess thats the risk that comes with handmades.

I would contact Pete Johnson personally and explain the problem. Voice concern that possibly a bad batch made it out to B&M's.

IF he doesn't stand behind the product I'd be surprised.

A little over the top don't ya think? If you really think there is a problem contact the store you bought it from.

That sucks. I am no expert but the only bitter or soapy Tat havana VI I have had was wet. Come to think of it, it was the only Angeles I have ever tried. You might try dry boxing a few for a day or two and see if that helps.

Wow, the Angeles is on of the best Pepin made cigars, IMO. Too bad you have a bad box, what is the box date?

Good Idea. Will try and let u know.

What were your storage conditions? I've always thought the Pepins don't really shine untill they are at least 4-5 months after the box code and another month in my humidor.

I just opened a box of these and wasn't super impressed, but I don't know it was as bad as you describe. I've never had any of the line at all, so nothing to compare to. I'll say mine are way moist. I'll dry box one tonight and try it this weekend (perhaps at the HERF).

Pepin's really shine when stored in lower RH, say 60-63%. If you're humi is running closer to 70 I would definately suggest dry boxing prior to smoking.
