So we had our pig roast last night.....

And what a night it was. A full house and, except for the unfortunate pigs, we all had a ball. We roasted 2 35lb piglets in the traditional Cuban roaster boxes.

One of our members, of Cuban decent, did the roasting and his Mom made rice and black beans and Yucca roasted with onions. Plus there was roasted chicken, salads, baked beans, etc.

Humberto Gonzalez gave out Cojones cigars in various sizes and John Conroy of General Cigar gave out Cohibas, Partegas, Macanudos. A micro brewery named Cricket Hill supplied the Ale and Lager.

Looks like a great time! I guess those little piggies didn't use brick to build their houses.

Very nice Roscoe. It warms the heart to see such a celebration. Thanks for sharing the photos.

P.S. The roasting boxes are very interesting.

Looked like a great time. We hold a pig roast every year in my family near X-mas time and its always a lot of fun. Pork+Beer+Smokes=FUN!

I'm never had a roasted pig, it looks good though. It looks like you had a great time. I'm glad to see it. :tu

Very cool.

Two summers ago I rented this

I've heard awesome things about the La Caja China's though- I'd love to get ahold of one

I don't think you want to trust me with any type of cooking :r

Fair enough.

I don't live in SoCal. I live in the South Bay, but I could host one of these, I'd just have to make sure a shit ton of people actually came.

Our response was overwhelming. We never expected it to go over this well. We usually run a dinner on the first Wed of the month so this was an additional event. We filled the room to capacity (80). Now this was our first pig roast and I'm sure next year we will be turning them away.

The cost to attend was very reasonable and the food costs were not that great. The two piglets (those cute little things...allah be praised) only cost about 190 bucks. I believe they were 2.65/lb dressed (no jokes please).

We had two cigar reps come so the cigars were free.
