Something stinks...

Regarding flavored cigars....get her off those filtered nasty liquor store flavoreds and into the premium infuseds....Acid Blondie, Drew Estate/Natural's 'Jucy Lucy', Drew Estates 'Kahlua', man, those are tasty and my wife loves 'em.

You could also get a tongue scraper.

And since we're smoking and already run a higher risk for cancer and such, try a 'non-alcohol' based mouthwash. I've heard the stuff with alcohol in it is pretty bad for you.

Are you scrubbing behind your ears?

The smell comes out through your skin. So get a stronger deoderant soap that will cover for you. Make sure after the shower you have changed clothes.

Also skip smoking for a few days but go through the normal shower motion and test your wife. Ask her if she can still smell it (as if you had smoked one) and see what she says.

I'm with him. I can't believe that she still actually smells the cigar on you if you've showered, changed clothes, brushed your teeth, etc. I think it's all in her head. Skip the cigar & see if she doesn't smell it anyway.

After re-reading Rolando's post, I'm not certain I do agree with the oozing from pores theory after only one cigar. I smoke a few a day & I'm screwed if it's true. I don't know...could be I suppose.

I still think it's suggestive.

My wife has the most powerful olfactory senses I've ever seen. She is like a bloodhound. She does not like the smell. I've perfected my routine for not smelling like a cigar:

1. Get a good, fragrant body wash. I've been using the Axe stuff. Take a shower and use it liberally over all your skin including your lips. I have my head shaved so I don't need to worry much about my hair but again, a good, fragrant shampoo will really help.

No don't get a body wash those are crap in general. If you have ever had a real odor on you and tried to get it off with a body wash you would know what I mean. Get a good bar soap

Your body adjusts to it after awhile. If I have gone for awhile without smoking I can smell it on myself more. I have noticed this about breath as well. It seems easier to get rid of tobacco mouth the more you smoke.

I think the more you smoke, the more your sense of smell adapts to it. Therefore eliminating the smell.

In any event, I appreciate all of the replies, guess I'll live with her yappin in my ear. Can't wait to see what this winter will bring, thats the next issue, where to smoke then? Don't wanna stink up the ole' truck now!

Try this: DON'T smoke a cigar when you get home. If she still says you smell like smoke.....

Bro... three good brothers posted up suggestions and just seems like you blazed over them....

Yeah but I also believe you have a natural scent and your body will make slight changes to adapt to continue making that scent. It is not 100 percent but it can diminish foreign odors.

Once you get her broke in you'll be fine :)

Thanks Dave!!

First off, I didn't blaze over anything, I'm going to sample that suggestion this evening.

Thank you to those 3 brothers if I already did not express it earlier. I'll post tomorrow to see what the outcome is tonight. Well maybe tomorrow night...she won't be home until late so I can smoke tonight!:D

Yeah I'd be curious to see if some of it is a psychological aversion to you smoking.

Now, how do I control this garlic/onion breath my wife can't stand? No offense garlicbreath of Pittsburgh, PA.

Well, now that you mention it, garlic can be used to mask other odors because it's quite strong and is definitely emitted through pores. If you both like garlic then consider taking a garlic pill herbal supplements. :D

Seriously though, any "naturally" occuring pleasant odor in your house that you can strengthen may cover any residual smells from the cigar. Cook dinner for her, bake fresh bread, etc.

Darn right! I worked at a 10,000 capacity feedlot when we were married and for many years afterwords. There is nothing like 160 acres of cow flop in the rainy season! After sorting or working cattle, I'd end up covered from head to toe with cow poop. When I went home for the night, I'd take my clothes off in the mud room and she'd pick 'em up (with two fingers) and carry them to the clothes washer.

It must have worked. She doesn't give me any grief at all. In fact, it makes her happy to know how much I enjoy a cigar. I'm really, really lucky. My 40th anniversary is coming next March. I might have to do something nice for her but I'm worried I might spoil her.:)
