Started the smoking room.

Looks great. Good for you for having the opportunity to create a nice smoking area.

Munt.

Something to keep in mind for you Cigar room guys..

*Never* put a cold air return in your smoking room. For you guys with basements, the basement will be cool enough in the summer, and you can use electric heat in the winter.

For those of you who don't have basements, you can use "ductless" A/C systems..and again electric heat.

*Venting* When venting your exhaust duct, pick a good location, with no windows above, or no "fresh air" intakes around. What I mean by "fresh air" intakes.. These 90% furnaces have fresh air intakes installed on the outside of your home. You DON'T want your exhaust anywhere near that, or the smoke will get sucked in your fresh air intake..and THROUGH OUT the house! To tell if you have a 90%er furnace if you're not sure, go look at your furnace, and if you see 2 - 2" PVC lines being ran outside..you have a 90%er.

Also remember..that smoke can leave a nasty yellowish stain on the side of your home, so vent properly.

I hope this helps for everyone.,

Not necessarily.

Dampers take care of that just fine.

I'm talking about the cold air return for your furnace.

See..Dampers are meant for feeds..not returns. Depending on the size of the room, if your feeding it with cold air(A/C running)..and not returning the same amount of air..you could possibly freeze the "A" coil. You're not supposed to have restrictions with cold air return.

Plus..most people turn off registers in the home, if they are not using that room. That forces cold air into other parts of the house.(summer time)

If you get enough rooms not returning as much air..as your feeding...you could freeze the "A" coil. If you freeze the "A" coil, air flow will stop, and you will have a leak.

I honestly can't wait to see more pics of this room during the process. I don't have the room to do this, but man would I love too. Many many props to you, even if you are knocking the Tigers.....:tu

NICE! I'd be interested in seeing the progression too! I'm in the process of making my own ManCave in my garage, bit it will have to double as a workshop. Nothing as nice as what your's is going to be.

I have nothing hooked up to my funace for this room. The room has an exhaust and a fresh air intake w/a duct heater.http://www.electromn.com/gen/makeup_air.htm

The room is looking great so far! I'm excited to see the room take shape. Mark and I were having a smoke in our cigar room tonight and were talking about how cool it is to see others doing similar types of projects. It's totally worth it when you get to the end result. It looks like you have everything under control, but if any questions come up just let me know and i'll gladly provide any input I can. Great work thus far!!

I'm jealous, that is going to be a nice setup. Much nicer than my little cave in the basement. I don't have a separate ventilation system so I'm only "allowed" to smoke pipes in the cave (she will tolerate aromatic stuff). Cigars are smoked in the garage.

Thanks, you've been a great deal of help already:tu

Got the room taped and primed. Also got a minute to run out and get the entertainment.
