Supporting your LB&M

Aww horse crap!
Went and picked up a few cigars today, four sticks locally cost nearly a third of what I can buy a box of 25 of the same cigar for online.

As much as I'd like to support the locals, my pension doesn't often allow for it.

Who still supports the local shop in their area?
 
Many of us do. The Bundles I smoke are cheaper due to no shipping. My BM stocks Padron 1926, so I can get them fresh. I do look for deals online and spend some $$, but most goes local.
 
well im still new to the cigar world, so i will definately buy singles and samplers from my b&m to try out. Im getting to know a lot of the people there and i try to buy as much as i can from them. But i think when it comes down to full boxes of cigars, i will do most of my shopping online.
 
I go to my B&M to buy single sticks that I want to try or simply don't want an entire box of that particular smoke. As much as I'd like to do more purchasing in the local B&M I can't bring myself to spend $60 on 4 sticks when I can get a box of 25 for $150.

Usually when I'm in the B&M I am picking up some yard gar smokes like the fuente curly heads for $2 each or a handful of padron 2000's that run me a little over $4 a stick for a everyday smoke. If I'm in the mood for a super premium and don't have it stocked in my humidor i'll pop in and drop the $30. One day I'll take $500 into the B&M and just go crazy again like I did when I was a newbie and didn't really know about online cigar buying.
 
Whenever I drive by and have an hour to spare, I pop in to buy a cigar and shoot the breeze. I know that isn't really "support" so to speak, but they don't carry my usual brands of cigars. I stop in because I enjoy converation with the owners and the other customers.
 
I hear ya man. While I'm not on a pension yet, I am on a budget. I spent $27.00 for 4 cigars today, two each of two kinds to try, that's about $11.00 more than I like to spend for that number of cigars.

Maybe it's just me, but a few of the closer B&Ms in Arlington and Fort Worth, don't even appear to be attempting to be competitive price-wise. And I can't even smoke at one or more of the shops here in Arlington.

I always buy from my local B&M over the internet if they have what I want. Even if it costs a bit more, I like to support them for putting their necks out. Being from PA, apparently this is now the only place one can smoke inside besides their homes.
 
I try and support the locals but most of my money/budget goes to online retailers. Too much bang for your buck when you buy online...
 
I would like to be able to buy more from the B&Ms in my area, but I just can't afford to. Secondly the closest B&M to me is almost an hour away, so I don't go there often. I do usually spend $20 or $30 when I do go.
 
i do go there so i can closley examine sticks i havent tried, and get advice from them for what i might like. thier prices arent great (7 bucks for a nub cammie) but its nice to get a hands on experience. i dont plan on buying boxes from them though.
 
i've bitched about this out here before, but anyway... i'd love to support my B&M around the corner from me, but they're almost obtuse in the way they refuse to pay attention to what's going on in the domestic cigar world. i've asked them about tatuajae, padilla, etc and they continue to be ignorant about the new boutique brands. that and the majority of what i like is not available at the B&M... :tu

that being said, they do always seem to get a pretty fair share of anejos every holiday season, so.......
 
I try to stop in at my local B&M at least once every week or two to maintain my relationship with them. Even though they are priced higher than the Internet, due mainly to local tobacco taxes, and they don't carry a lot of what I smoke I still like going there and hanging out with other BOTL. Plus there are those items where they have better pricing over the Internet such as Opus and Anejos and other hard to find stuff like Tatuaje Blacks which make it worth wile to have a good local relationship.
 
I like supporting my local B&M when I can. We only have a small one locally, and their selection has been pretty slim lately. The last time I went in they had closed up the small walk in humi, and are just using the display cases out front. THey also are sticking with premiums only for now, Ashton, Padron and opus, not even any regular fuentes. I did pick up an opus and a padron ani last time I was in, and I'll probably get a couple more before they're out. There is another B&M an hour or so away that has great prices and a fantastic selection. I usually drop $40-50 when I get down there. It's just easier to shop online sometimes.
 
I never ever buy from my B&M anymore.. Basically their service sucks, they have zero knowledge, and their prices are horrible. I support buying from local businesses, but I do have some minimum expectations to be a customer
