Supporting your LB&M

After reading a few replies, im very lucky to have 2 B&M's that are very nice. Both are within 10-15 min. drive. One has a lounge. I buy singles there but not boxes.

There are so many B&M's I get tempted to stop in everyone of them. That was getting expensive so now I pop my head in talk to the owner look at the selection and buy one or two cigars.

You would think with the competition from the interweb some B&M's would be a little more friendly, but thats not always the case. I will only go back to the friendlier places.

when I have the money I buy from my shops

supporting them, and gifting the guys some smokes has benefits

I try to stop in at my local B&M at least once every week or two to maintain my relationship with them. Even though they are priced higher than the Internet, due mainly to local tobacco taxes, and they don't carry a lot of what I smoke I still like going there and hanging out with other BOTL. Plus there are those items where they have better pricing over the Internet such as Opus and Anejos and other hard to find stuff like Tatuaje Blacks which make it worth wile to have a good local relationship.

Same here, on the oppressive taxation. I would love to give the locals more of my business, but I just don't have the budget for it. For me, it's either online, or give it up. There are a couple of "smoke shops" that I haven't ever been in, that I'm planning to check out, just to see what they have, which might well be nothing.

I like to stop in and spend some money at my local B&M from time to time, but since my wife has cut my cigar budget, I have had to turn to online retailers more often. I like the atmosphere at my local shops, but at California prices it is much more economical to buy online. I usually buy my singles at the B&M and I buy my boxes online.

As a retail store owner, may I make a suggestion? I'm reading lots of guys saying something like "I'm paying $25 for four, and can buy a box online for $150". Have you asked your local B&M if they would meet or get close to the "standard" online price? Maybe not the price that you've spent three weeks finding the absolute lowest, but the price that you'll find from the major online vendors...

I've been doing that recently, and it's helped me to maximize my cigar budget while also supporting my local businesses.

The B&M is where I do most of my buying. I buy things online I see that I want to age. Infact my entire humi is stuff to age because none of my friends enjoy cigars, so all of my smoking is done at the LBM

I visit my local B&M a couple times a month because I like the owners, they always seem to have VSG's in stock and at msrp, and a lot of times I don't want to buy a box or a fiver, I just want to try 1 or 2 of something new.:tu

I visit my local shop 2-3 times a week, its like my second home :D I am good friends with the owner, and I buy a few sticks everytime I step foot in there, out of courtesy, and to thank him for letting me plop my butt in his comfy chairs.. We have a good time, drink beer and throw some darts... Its great fun :) In fact, wednesday is my next day off, and you can probably guess where I will be :D

My B&M deserves all the business I can throw their way. It is a great place to hang out and smoke with friends. I gladly hand them my cash.

So Rob, come find me on wednesday or thursday... I think you are getting sick, and need a day of from work :D :D
Scott

:ss I will be there Wednesday from about 11am-around 3pm, and thursday from 10am-3:30pm or so.. :D You'll know where to find me if you can make it :D :D :ss

When it comes to NC's about 95&% of it comes from my B&M. Like Tom said they don't carry some of my favorite sticks. :D
