Taboo Twist, to age, or not to age, that is the question

Bushveld Baboon
Guys,

Just got my first order of Taboo Twists (Toro). Needless to say enough has been said about Rob's super fast nuclear blast resistance shipping and the great look of these cigars (although, I would drop the word cigar from the band and just leave it as Taboo). That aside, I got 5 to start, do I leave them in the humi for a little while or fire away immediately?

Lu

I'm gonna say let them rest a bit...I bout a sampler from Rob and the first one I light up wasn't all that pleasing (Sorry Rob) ...I've given a few away but have one more resting in the humi to give it another shot in a few weeks...

I agree with you here. Fresh off the truck was a very different experience from even a few weeks in the humi. I think the high demand for this stick doesn't allow much rest time. :tu

The Twist is a kickass smoke though.. (And pretty damn cool looking if you ask me)

3 for 3... they will be rested:) It is tough though, as people were saying, these are sexy looking nuggets.

Honestly I have never had a freshie since I have had enough to let them sit for 4ish months first... but even with 4 months I have to say they are great. So I can see them being very good fresh and even better with a bit of age on.

So if you liked aged cigars, I would throw a box in the back of the humi and wait to see what happens... of course smoking a couple along the way lol...

My oldest complete box if from 2006 (some anejos) and they are developing quite nicely... I can't wait to see them in 2-3 years. :D

They are still decent right off the truck but they get MUCH better with a little time. And I do mean a little because I haven't been able to let any rest for more than a couple of months.

Right off the truck thy are pretty good IMO.....That being said Im letting the rest I have rest a little bit

All the Taboo Twist currently in my humidor have been sitting for about 50 days. I smoke all sizes on the Twist every week. They are perfect right now. I would only rest them (our current inventory) for about 3-5 days after I ship them to you. When I get a new shipment, I would let them rest for 2-6weeks. They seem to get better about every two weeks up until about 8 weeks and I don't think they get much better after that.

The Twist we are currently selling came in the first week in June. The shipment was several hundred boxes and this is the longest we have been able to age them before selling out.

If you do not like the Twist or you don't experience what you read in the reviews, please pm me or call me. I want to know about your experience with the Twist. This is our #1 selling cigar. I appreciate all reviews and all feedback, both neg. and pos.

I'm smoking the Torpedo now............ very nice.

Thanks CS

Rob

I reverse my previous statement. I got the stogies on Tuedays, which means I will be firing up a twist Friday night! I will report back. Thanks for headup on the 50 days ellapsed humi time.

I was hoping that the answer was now. Just got my order today. A sampler and twists. Friday's poker game looks like the time to try.

Thanks Rob the freebies were overwelming to say the least. The service was exceptional.

I never smoke ROTT. I usually give at least 6 weeks before I will consider lighting up a stick I get from an online order, but when my box of Taboo came in I had no other sticks at the office so I lite one up that day. It was great right then! Can wait till the others have rested.

Rob is always 100% available. I just ask him when his smokes came off the boat, but he usually tells me before I get a chance to ask.
I like to give them at least a month, try them out, and then give them a couple more weeks depending on how they acted.

I just received my order today (I ordered it Monday) and was amazed at the speed and packaging (doubly impressed since I was charged only $5.95 for shipping and I can see the shipping charge on the sticker on the box saying $7.39). All I can say about the packaging is, man that's a lot of bubble wrap...

Having said that, I didn't have the self-control to not smoke one immediately. I got the 10 stick sampler + 6 sumatra sampler. I had one of the sumatra and I was very impressed with the stick. It was an excellent balance of sweet and spiciness.

The construction was excellent (although, I think I was a bit careless with the removal of the band, I collect them you know so ended up with a slight tear on the wrapper near the band--totally my fault but the stick smoked flawlessly) and the burn was also very good (it was slightly uneven midway but it straighten itself out pretty quick).

I'm not much in the way of a cigar reviewer, I just know what I like and don't like. I very much like the sumatra blend.

I think I'll give the twist a few days to stabilize before trying it but if it's anything like the sumatra, I think I may have found a way to wean myself off the Devil Site.

The twist is one of the best cigars I've smoked in 40 years
of smoking. Just buy a bunch so you can smoke them now and
later.
Now if I could get that damn Taboo bar to load onto my sig!
(several of you guys have tried to coach me through it and
I thank you for trying. It's the damndest thing. I can field strip
an M 16 with my eyes closed and rebuild any engine you put in
front of me, but I have to get one of the kids over here to do the
simplest stuff on the computer.)

In my experience, they just need to get acclimatized to a 65% humidity level or so and they are ready to be enjoyed. I had a few HSG's that were a little too wet, but once they sat in my vino for a few weeks they were almost too good. :tu If you haven't tried any of Rob's smokes yet you aren't doing yourself any favors. :dr

I love the twist! By far my favorite. I've smoked 7 of them, one being a robusto, the others the Toro size. All of them except the last toro I had, were a very think and creamy smoke. as I labeled in a previous thread, a desert cigar. The odd ball I smoked about 3 days ago had a strange pine taste to it and not so creamy. My only guess it the SFO and Exotic blends infused it with its spiciness. Any thoughts?

I really wish I had a way to compare aged vs not-aged. I see threads like this and think I'm missing something.
