I received my first tatuajes on Friday. I couldn't wait any longer, especially since it is almost 60 degrees outside today so I fired up an Angeles (petit corona vitola).
It was a nice looking cigar, well made, almost a shame to burn. But that was its destiny...
The prelight draw was quite tight and yielded very little flavor. It could be that it needed more than two short days of rest in my humidor, although the retailer claims that they are stored at optimal humidity, not too wet.
It was the same deal upon lighting: tight draw and not too much flavor and not very much smoke either. After a few puffs things loosened up and then it produced a very nice amount of aromatic smoke. I think the aroma was my favorite part of the experience.
The taste started out a little drier and more woody than I normally prefer. I was a little disappointed but had to remind myself that often, when smoking a cigar with considerable hype, I feel the same way. As I progressed I found the taste sweetened up a little and I enjoyed it more even though the woody-ness was still there. The aroma remained superb and maybe even got a little better.
I only ashed twice due to the good construction and small size of the cigar. The taste never became harsh and I smoked right down to the nub.
Overall I did enjoy this cigar once I overcame my initial disappointment. I am still enjoying the taste in my mouth and the smell on my clothes. I think with more rest I would have found it outstanding from the start. Good thing there are more in the humi!!
