Hey Guys,

I am down in Nicaragua and wanted to give you some production updates.

Tatuaje Blacks - We have only been able to ship around 440 jars so far. We are waiting for more bundles from the factory to fill the jars. We had a slow down due to cover leaf color. Jaime is grading the darker color cigars for the consumer and I get the lighter ones to smoke. Let's just say I have many light ones in cello bundles that I will be carrying with me everywhere I go.
We hope to have all the jars shipped by late June.

La Riqueza and Cabaiguan Maduro will start shipping in 3 to 4 weeks in small quantities. La Riqueza will be going to only full line Tatuaje dealers and Cabaiguan Maduro for now will be going only to the top Cabaiguan dealers. I am loving them both and I hope you will like them also.

The Tatuaje Monster/Horror Series is coming along great. The boxes are going to freak people out. Pepin and Jaime think I am crazy.

Jaime told me that no one should worry about production in the future. 80% of the tobacco that they will be using next year will be tobacco from their own farms and the quality is beautiful. This percentage will only grow in years to come. Pepin, Jaime, Amilcar and the whole Garcia family are very excited and proud of the new tobacco and are convinced that the tobacco is some of the best in the world.
There is a bright future for anyone working with Pepin and his family.

I will have a small release of something else in about 3 months that you will find at only a couple of retailers. I have a new name and I am releasing only one size for now, truthfully to protect the trademark. Can't go into details yet but I will update. BTW, the cigar is great.

Out for now,
Pete

Thanks for the update!!!!

OH DEAR GOD! I CAN'T WAIT! Thanks for the news Houdini! I am gonna make it out to NYC for a couple of Yankee Games this late August...

Interesting news. I had been wondering how much of Pepin's stuff was going to be allocated to Tatuaje. Methinks Senor Pepin might be spreading himself a little thin :2

Pete handed me a pre-release La Riqueza at the Tatuaje event and it was great. A right turn from the current Tatuaje & Cabaiguan fare. The wrapper imparts a sweet taste with great blend. I couldn't taste all of it as I was smoking a Verocu when he handed me the stick. Still a great smoke. I'm looking forward to their release.

Guess I'll need to work some more OT for all of these purchases! :hn

Interesting perspective. I have to admit that I am not familiar with Pepin outside of the occasional Tatuaje that I've picked up in Reno when visiting the family. I know his cigars get raves but they're rarer than hen's teeth here and if they are found they're ridiculously expensive. I'd rather buy a Sir Winston and pocket some change.

I'll be back in Reno for Thanksgiving and will stop by Fumare as I always do. As long as there are some Tatuajes in Reno in November, I'll be happy.

This is very exciting news. I love Tatuaje, and lots of Pepin product. The only problem I see is the exclusive nature of some of these releases. As much as I love these lines, they are all nearing the $300/box mark, and I'm just as inclined to smoke ISOM's at that rate.

Pete is going to be here in my shop on 10/25 helping us celebrate our 4th Anniversary. I am stoked about the Monster Series. The Frank this year and can you all take a wild guess what next year will be?:tu

Damn straight, DRAC!

Is Pete talking about these????

I pulled the trigger..BLIND :chk :) :tu :chk

Box of 25 El Triunfador Lanceros (7 1/2 x 38) packaged and sealed with a large Humidipak for humidified shipping!

Well, good secrets are hard to keep. When word about this small batch release by Pete Johnson hit - the wait was on for this new blend to start shipping. Available in very small quantities - this lancero was created to establish the El Triunfador name from it's Cuban past. Another old Cuban brand name brought to life again. The papeleta design was taken from the original cuban artwork. For this lancero, the packaging is simple. 25 Cigars are bound by a ribbon and wrapped in wax paper inside a simple, vertical box with a slide top. Padded inside, at the top and bottom for shipping - these pigtail lanceros are safe and ready to enjoy.

According to Pete, this blend is for the lancero only. If El Triunfador is turned into an entire brand - the blend and packaging will change for the other sizes. Just released in Sept. 2008 - this vitola is available at only a few vendors and will continue to be made "in small quantities here and there".

With a naturally dark, Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and all Nicaraguan filler - this cigar offers a taste profile that is sure to be a hit.

Now, I'm jealous. Nice find, Dennis! :tu

Darn you people!!! :D After reading this, I had to order a 5er from New Havana since I overlooked the link for El Ts while ordering a box of Illusione Culebras on Monday night. Thanks for the update.
