Tatuaje Reserva SW

drnrte

Newbie in the jungle
Was able to pick up one of these on saturday. I have been hearing about these a lot on the net and just had to get one. When you hear someone review a cigar and says it is as close as you can get to a cuban I want to try it.
What a dissapointment. I expect when you pay 12 a stick not to have soft spots all over. Put some damn tobacco in the thing. Not a bad blend, but not what I expected. Just very little flavor unitl the very end and then it was a acidic tang.

I have a box of these put away and don't expect to open it for another six months or so. I'm currently smoking through a cabinet of Unicos from March of this year. I'm enjoying them, even though they certainly would be better with more age.

I've found a mushy one or two in a box :)BS );
they can be uninspiring when fresh; and
dramatic when showing even a little plume.

They don't seem to do well if too humid in my limited experience; TXmatt, official PW, may know more. All in all, a sukkie $12 Tat is like a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. (EDIT: I refer here to the J21 which I would buy again.)

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Drevim had a robbie that was almost impossible to keep burning and was VERRRY peppery to the point of being harsh. He had a J21 reserva that he said was one of the best sticks he has ever had. I thought that Pepins were supposed to be one of the best constructed sticks made? I guess nobody's perfect.
I'll hold onto the couple I have a little longer.

My observations exactly ... the J21 reserva I smoked kicked ass and the robo was harsh and I would not buy that one again.

Two years later...

Sunday afternoon reflections. Reserva SW on the back porch. I am steeped in the aroma of a cigar to die for. At 80* there is a fringe scent of teak being forced from the rocking chair; it adds to the cigar. The iced tea makes a nice rinse to bring up the taste of the next puff. This two-year old SW smacks of the rich tobacco taste and slight pepper overtone that the early J21 Reservas displayed.

Anyone revisted their SWs to find better smoke lately?

I had a 1+ year old RSW a week or two ago and loved it. One of my favorite smokes. Seems like it still had room to grow, but I don't know if I can keep my hands off the rest for another year.

I have been chain smoking the SW as of late...I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! Second best Tatuaje offering....RC233 slightly edges it out....

Not sure what he does to these but whatever he is doing he is doing right htis is one fine stick as well as the robusto size one> So smooth from such a young cigar
