Tatuaje Tainos Review

Young Ape
I am going to review this cigar after smoking my second one.

To start the construction on these are absolutely flawless. I've bought all of mine from the factory and you can see that they really are putting effort into these smokes. The wrapper is beautiful and oily with a slight tooth and stemming. The triple cap is gorgeous and very much like on an ISOM. The prelight smell of the wrapper is very rich and nicely tobacco flavored with the foot giving off a nice earthy smell. I punched the head and lit it up. Great burn with no run and a razor sharp edge. This stick gives off a ton of very aromatic smoke which was very pleasing to the fellow cigar smokers I was with. The first 1/8" of the stick is mild with some earthy tones. Then the fun starts, a great spice almost like peppercorns that coats your mouth and lips with a great flavor. This spice remains the rest of the way through and is very strong but pleasing (to me at least). The length of this cigar combined with the full-bodiedness would lead me to say make sure that you have eaten before you light this girl up. The ash was whitish grey and stuck very well. I have a couple more of these resting in my humidor and I always try to pick them up when I am in Miami. Without a doubt this stick is in my top 5.

I have yet to have one.

I have read a few reviews on these, including yours. I just may have to pull the trigger on a few of these.

Nice review. Thanks for pushing me to buy some. :r

I don't smoke a ton of NCs, usually only 1-2 a week max. I do like the Tainos, but it is still my least favorite Tatuaje I've had. The Cazador just does it for me and I'm really looking forward to the Especials.

I felt it had a similar profile to the Cazador (coffee & dark chocolate), but had much more spice and 'oomph'. With the size of the Tianos, I felt they could have done more with the blend.

As you stated, perfect burn and construction.

I'd gladly pay $7-8 for it, but it's not a $12 cigar IMO.

Here is a pic of a few of the Tatuaje line:

I have not. What is the deal with those?

I'm really looking forward to the Salomon and Diademas in that picture.

Just picked up a box. They're built flawlessly and smoke accordingly. I found light, sweet cedar at the front giving way to a gentle peppery 2nd half. All the while there were whiffs of a delightful aroma. It was a 45-minute smoke, medium body and med-full strength. Not sure they're $9.60 - $11.00/ea nice, but they're nice.

(Tainos - I don't get it. Someone explain. I never have time to smoke something that long and when something that long (and expensive) burns or draws poorly (it happens) I get really... irked. Double coronas, triple Churchills and fourple lonsdales don't appeal to me. Plus, you can't look over your left shoulder when you're driving with one in your mouth. Plus plus - I think my stomach is too weak to smoke anything that long/strong. That's me. I think they're for Las Vegas high rollers with chauffeurs. )

Just want to say I love Super T responses just the see the girl in the bottom of his post. Think I'll go watch it for another 10 minutes. :r

A month later I review my review. I pulled a J21 from the humi this afternoon and much to my surprise it was showing some early crystallization. The smoke, compared to a month ago - well, no comparison. A month made a big difference; the Reserva went from "very good" to "much more very good". In a word, I was stunned the difference 30 days made.

As a cigar relatively-newguy I had not experienced the change that time in my own humidor makes until now. I am really quite dazzled by it.
