Third times the charm/ How long will you deal with a stick you are not enjoying?

Anyone ever have one of those days where you grab a smoke, get an inch into it and bail? How about twice in a row?:r

Third time was the charm here. The bands of the first two have been remove d to protect the innocent but I am really digging the Taboo LR.

I feel like I am at the point now where I don't want to struggle through something I am not liking when i know I have 2 coolers full of other stuff.

How long will you put up with a stick that you are just not digging?

If I bought it, I will smoke it , regardless. That being said I try to read reviews on cigars I am thinking of buying to try an minimize the chances of purchasing a turd.:2

I will smoke 1/3 of it, if it does not improve out it goes. Unless it's a 50's white owl that smells like burning condoms and tastes like a pall mall, then I'm pitching it immediately.

I'll get to about half way and if it ain't doing it for me then, I'm comfortable knowing it probably won't further down either. The money was already spent, so if I am not enjoying it, then I don't worry about it.

always depends on the stick price. I cant throw a cigar away after an inch if i paid 5$+ on it.
Before i throw it away i cut a third of the cigar off and give the next third a try..

I try to smoke at least 1/3 before I pitch them, but if it is really bad, I will throw it out in the first inch. Why suffer through a bad smoke, the whole point is to relax and enjoy a smoke.

I will usually suffer completely through just to see if it changes or if any redeeming qualities end up coming through. If not then the next time I try it if it is not good after the first inch or so I pitch it.

Also, you have to be careful about trying to salvage a REALLY bad stick. If the flavor is off and I mean REALLY off toss it right away. They can make you vomit and feel sick for hours afterwards. I should know.

I'd stick around until after the first 3rd. I tend to disregard the first inch of the cigar unless it is very tasty. For me, the first inch is just getting the stick warmed up. Probably would smoke it half way unless it was absolutley horrific.

It goes real quick, maybe after a minute or so, no matter what stick. My father and I each had a Partagas Luci a few months ago; tasted like dirty, damp dog ass. They got pitched in the fire. It was a case of smoking it to early, but life is too short for ugly woman, cheap toilet paper, and bad sticks.

But I would never say "I will never smoke that again" because of one, or even two bad sticks. I have found the best cigar in the world can sit in a box next to the worst. Nature of the hobby.

Happened to me last night with a Zino something. It was truly awful. It tasted like the tobacco had only been watered with the water they use to soak feet for pedicures. I only lasted about an inch into it.

If I'm not enjoying it because of the stx itself I pitch it. If it's the situation I'm smoking in I'll change the situation. It rarely happens cause there's a time & place for All cigars.

Not very long at all. Maybe the first third if it's lucky. Since the baby came along, smoke time is at a premium for me, so if the stick sux, it's gone and I'm grabbing another one pronto!

Life's too short to suffer through bad stick!

I will try to let it settle after lighting, and if no go, sometimes I will cut the stick to about the halfway point (having already decided to pitch it), relight and see if the flavor profile changes.

More often than not, the answer is ... No.
