This afternoon's disappointment

This afternoon, the weather was nice for the first time in a few weeks, so I decided to light up one of my last two Peterson Gran Reservas. This line has been discontinued due to poor sales, but I really like this cigar. It has a distinctive tart, oily taste that just lights up my tongue. Today's cigar was easily one of the best of the box.

I was half-way through when I had to stop by the library to pick up a Form 1040 Instruction book (no Turbo Tax for me!). When I returned to the car, the cigar had gone out. No problem -- I reached for my matches and found I only had one left. I lit it, held the flame to the foot of the cigar--- and poof, a gust of wind came through the window and doused the match. Having no other form of fire, I was forced to ditch the rest of the cigar.

Now, I'm regretting a great cigar that was cut off before its time. & I'm down to only one Peterson left...

dont ya just hate that.
happened to me a month ago, i was out and wind got a hold of my last match & i was screwed

I would head to the store and get myself a bic before I ditch a perfectly good smoke. Sorry to hear about the loss man:mad:

I blame the IRS.

If it was'nt for taxes this would have never happened.

Sorry about your loss. Maybe Uncle Sam will buy you another one.:r

That's why I always have back up fire: another lighter and matches.......................and I always carry a knife just in case my cutter bites the dust ( I carried the knife before I smoked cigars, but.....).

"Fortnately, I keep my feathers numbered just for such an occasion......" Foxhorn Leghorn..... keep a bic flic in the glovebox

Me too.. I woulda gone to the nearest 7-11 and paid $0.99 for a bic.

You are so right. I was heading home anyway. I should have kept cigar and smoked it on the back porch when I got home. I don't know why I let my frustration get the better of me.

I'm filling out the forms now. Doesn't look like Uncle Sam will be giving me anything other than a good old-fashioned as*f**k.

Screw the taxes.

Its Saturday, light the other one and enjoy it.

Do the Taxes Monday.

Oh yeah, get a Blazer lighter so that doesnt happen again.

All's well that ends well, as Bill Shakespeare used to say.

A few hours ago it looked like I was going to owe Uncle Sam about $400. But some intense investigation into mountains of receipts and discarded paperwork yielded not one, but TWO long-forgotten charitable deductions, larger than-expected dependent daycare deductions, and a tax credit buried in the back of the 1040 instruction manual. Not only do I NOT owe Uncle Sam; in fact, that mean old bastard OWES me $1200!!

In my euphoric joy, I rushed to my humidor to rescue my last Peterson Gran Reserva and lo!... to what do my wondering eyes appear... a SECOND Peterson buried at the bottom under a 5-pack of 5 Vegas Limitada that I threw in last week for some aging.

So, now I'm $1200 richer than yesterday, I'm burning a delicous Peterson cigar on the back porch at this very moment, and I've still got another one waiting for tomorrow! Life is good again!:ss

Life is good again.

Right on man. I'm glad to hear you are doing well again. Back on track and ready to burn em up.

Oh the smokes that you can now buy with $1200. Since they've been discontinued, you better buy another box of those Peterson's before there are no more on the face of the Earth. Congrats on beating good ol' Uncle Sam.
