This goes hand in hand with smoking a fine cigar...

Homebrewed Beer.

Tonight I'm going to kick back on the deck, smoke a NUB and enjoy some of my finest brew yet... a Belgian Pale Ale nick-named "Evil Monk".

Anyone else made their own brew?

I dont know anyone making their own cigars.. so I havnt tried that yet.

haha

People get paid good money to brew my beer and roll my stogies!!
Far be it for me to take that away from them!:ss

I used to brew quite a bit of my own beer, but then came wife, family, house, etc. Once the kids are out on their own, I will start again. Still have everything you need.

Love the name!

I do wine, thinking about trying a cider this fall, and then beer when the wine is finished.

Check over in the food and drink forums, this topic comes up once a month or so. You're certainly not the only brewer here!

I brew my own and love it. I was floored the first time I tried my own beer. It was amazing. It was so tasty and fresh tasting i couldn't believe it.

It sounds like you have a nice relaxing evening ahead of you.

The closest I've come to brewing my own beer was about 8 or 9 years ago. They had a place in the south bay where you could pay to brew beer there. All you would do is pick what type(s)/stlye(s) of beer you wanted to make and they supplied everything (ingredients, instructions, timers, hardware, etc...) It was like cooking for men. It wasn't cheap, but it was fun. The best part is that we got to drink while we were brewing. They took care of the fermentation and we returned a month or so later to bottle it. Again, we got to drink while doing it. The beer was great. I know it's not as rewarding as doing everything yourself, but there was something cool about drinking a something that I helped craft. I'm sure doing everything yourself is makes it that much better :tu

I have personally only brewed my own at a business much like the one mentioned... so far.

However my dad has been regularly brewing his own beer (all grain) for many years. He has a whole range of seasonal brews which he makes every year, many of which he considers perfected recipes. He has a small room in his basement converted into a brewery, kegs all his beer, and puts it on draft via a tap he installed in the door of his refrigerator. He calls his operation a nanobrewery.

As for the beer... well it's pretty damn good if I do say so myself. Of course I may be biased, but my assessment is echoed by practically all who have tried it. :tu

I and several friends intend to acquire some equipment and start homebrewing our own soon.
