Thompson Cigar wtf?

Maturing Primate
I ordered the Sopranos Gift Set + free CAO Cubist ashtray the other day and have now received 4 phone calls from "quality control". Anyone else have these calls coming to them? I talked to them yesterday and the guy tried to have me sign up for some sort of deal, so I told him no thanks and hung up. Now I just dealt with a woman and did the same thing, and they just called back again for the 4th time. What the hell is going on with this company, they must have given my phone number out to some kind of telemarketing agency. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Although I have thankfully never dealt with them, I think if you will do a search on Thompsons you will quickly wish you hadn't either.

:ss

Yeah, they are famous for this. They want you to join their cigar of the month club. Thompson is no good, better online places.

They sometimes have a decent price on a good name brand cigar, but a good deal from Thompson is rare.

When they call me (I love a good debate :)), I ask them things like, "How much are your Romeo y Julieta Bullys? (I don't even smoke this cigar BTW) They look em up & say $117.00 (Google is my friend). "They are $69.00 at Cigars International," I reply.

"How much are your La Gloria Cubana Wavell's?" (I still like this cigar BTW) The price is $101.00 at Thompson's. "I can get em for less than $65.00, so you can see that even with the club rebate that you are offering me, I'd still be paying about $25.00 a box too much."

By this time they are dying to get off the phone. :D

I have seen some good deals from them from time to time, but I have never ordered from them thanks to the things I have heard from other Gorillas. This is one more reason to never do business with Thompsons IMHO.

Back when I first got into cigars, I ordered one of their samplers. Well I got the wonderful "Join our cigar points club" or some crap like that call. I told the guy 5 times I didn't want to join and he kept bugging me. I haven't ordered from then since.

Awesome strategy!:tu:D

My first purchase was form there, awful desicion but I learned. I have recieved a few calls from them. I just told them to take my off of their list and to stop calling, and it worked just fine.

Yeah it's just kind of strange. The last person I spoke to didn't seem to have any idea what Thompsons Cigars was. I can understand that they would call about some ridiculous cigar of the month club to get business, but it seems as though my cell number is out and about now. Lesson learned! Thats an easy way to lose a customer.

I almost got sucked in by one of their ads in the back of a magazine.

After reading all of these replies and horror stories, I'm happy I did not.

I enjoy their false representation of cigars, stating it is from one country, but it is really from another.

:hn If they did that to me, I would never order from them again, not that I have ordered from them in like 7+ years.
