Too much spanish cedar scent?

Mr C

Young Ape
Hey guys, did a search but nothing quite fit what I was looking for...

I just finished my wine coolerador and put in spanish cedar...
I had to plane it to get it to right thickness and noticed a strong wood/machined smell, so I left the wood out over night to air, which removed the machined smell.

Now that it's in the wine cooler, the scent of spanish cedar is a little over powering and I cant get it to lessen... Will this ruin the cigars?

How can I mellow the scent or will it be okay and mellow out naturally?

Thanks
Clauds

It will be fine. It'll mellow out naturally, and over time the cigars will absorb some of it making a really tasty smoke

I have done the same think for my coolers and venos. The smell of the cedar mellow out with time. It will always have the great smell you expect, but the strength dies down.

Never too much IMO. Will lessen like already said.

I often leave my shirts in my humi so I san take the smell with me.:tu

Are you actually using Spanish Cedar? All wood scents will soften with age. I would keep your cigar boxes closed and do not have any cigars have a direct touch to the cedar.

:) Do you find it best to use the "Dri-Fit" fabrics, so you avoid disrupting the RH in you humidor? Or is it best to use natural fabrics around your sticks? :)

I love the smell myself and think it compliments the smell of fine tobacco. In fact, about once a year or so I will completely empty out my Aristocrat plus and lightly sand all the cedar surfaces to freshen up the cedar smell. It also brightens up the cedar and removes any darkening from hand prints.

Lovin' the smell.
