I've never tried a cigar that comes in a tube of any kind. What purpose does the tube serve if any? For looks, protection, helps out with freshness, etc? I've been eyeing a few cigars in glass tubes and some in the tubes with the screw on top. Just not sure what the tube is for.

All of the above....Cool presentation (Looks at the Cohiba Siglo VI, La Aurora Preferidos). Protects the cigar from friction and handling damage. Keeps the cigar fresher a little while longer outside a humidor than a non-tubed cigar. Nothing like handing another BOTL a tubos cigar, just makes the cigar an even nicer gift. :2

:tpd: excatly..

Just make sure it's the glass tube, not the plastic kind!!!

Just ask my friend Kondour. He said after a cigar like that he would rather smoke the plastic tube it came in.:pu

While I'm fairly new to this cigar business, I tend to prefer tube cigars. For one, they ride pretty nice on the motorcycle, less damage. I like the Punch Grand Puro, while they may be the same cigar, I find the one in the tube just taste better than the Grand Puros out of the box. Other tubes I like are the R&J en Tubo and the Punch Royal Coronation.

The first cigar I ever bought was a Punch Royal Coronation. I bought it because it looked cool in the tube! I forget how it tasted.

Still one of my gotos. It also makes a good smoke to pass because its afordable and is a fairly nice medium smoke. Maybe not the highest in quality but a decent smoke.

My dad loves to smoke with me for the camaraderie, and he likes to gift them to clients, but he's not into the collecting and trying a lot of blends. Of all the smokes I've gotten for him, these are the ones he likes best, and the ones his clients have been most impressed by.

While I've only ever smoked a cigar that was in a tube once (Don Tomas Corona), I found it to be very dry. I honestly don't know if this was due to the tube itself or the storing conditions at the B&M...my guess is that it wasn't the B&M as everything else I've ever bought there has been fine...or at least not as dry as this particular cigar.

I've been meaning to try a couple. I'll prob pick up some when I hit my B&M next time. How bout those Cognac flavored cigars in the glass tubes? A guy at work said he likes those, I think Partagas makes them.

One thing I find about cigars in tubes is they may not have the proper moisture. I always open the tube and place in the humidor awhile just like any new arrival. When going out, put the cap back on and go.
